"Joy is knowing that at the end of the day there is always something I can smile about...that regardless of what happens I know there will always be a warmth and light in my life that can never be extinguished. While during the whirlwind that has been the last 2 years, there have been times that it seemed impossible to find joy. With Jake being on deployment and us moving across the country, I really started to appreciate and find joy in the little things in life; the sparse "I love you's" while he was thousands of miles away, to now being fortunate enough to be able to wake up next to him every morning. I'm brought joy every single day by the knowledge that I am loved and that I am lucky enough to have someone as perfect for me as Jake is and who I will be able to love for the rest of our lives - no matter what the future may hold." - Shianne

The Unspeakable Joy Series - day eight
"The past 20 months have been a rollercoaster of emotions. There have been so many moments to be sad, angry and frustrated, but there have been so many moments filled with laughter, joy and hope. So many people have had "pandemic pivots" and I think our pivot was the best. Landon and I moved to a new city, Travis and I got married and our family was formed. The pandemic has taught us to hold close the ones you love and appreciate the small things. We have seen joy during walks in the park, evening conversations on our porch, games played around the kitchen table and obviously in these photos. Our wedding was exactly what we wanted it to be; surrounded by people we love, amazing food and tons of laughter. We wanted to honor our love and the start of this new chapter. The Unspeakable Joy Series - day five
"It’s hard to believe that we are still in a Pandemic-with no end in sight and joy might be hard to come by these days. I developed a blood clot in my lower leg after I broke my ankle a two weeks ago and had to spend time in the hospital. In the most unlikely place I got to experience joy. Joy that the clot was caught in time and Lindsey the ultrasound tech was so cheerful and reassuring. My incredible nursing team! Although exhausted from constantly full beds, suiting up to deal with covid patients in the rooms around me, STILL smiling and kind-I felt JOY! Incredible doctors and front line workers still saving, helping, nurturing-this is JOY!

"Joy to me is about more than just being happy; it is a deep feeling of being content with life and all of its moments, ups and downs. The last (almost) 2 years have been some of the most challenging but also the most rewarding. We welcomed a baby girl into the world last year, and the amount of joy we experience every day is indescribable. Just watching her change day by day, say and do new things, her smiles and laughs, are the best. Our lives will never be the same, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The Unspeakable Joy Series - 2021 edition
"It is not the joy that makes us grateful...it is the gratitude that makes us joyful."
I asked my 9 year old son Isaac the other day what his definition of "joy" is...his answer? "Joy is happiness, being grateful and showing kindness, plus so many other big and small things."

Isaac is the one who prompted me to start this Unspeakable Joy series 3 years ago...we were in the car and he randomly asked me "Mom, where do you find your joy?" Boom. Short, sweet and to the point. Little did he know that simple question would help me create this meaningful photo series that so many have come to enjoy as much as I do.

So please, follow along this month as I post photos each day from my 2021 photoshoots along with heartfelt quotes from my clients...and let's all do our best to hold gratitude in our hearts and keep a look out for those every day little joys 💜 Stephanie
