Life doesn’t care if you’re ready. It just shows up knocking at your door and keeps knocking until you answer. This is the year you leave. The year of 7001 crazy emotions. I should be pretty good at this by now, but it’s fresh every time and gets harder every time. I’m excited for you and so incredibly proud, but I’m also completely heartbroken. I’m going to miss all of the noise and the laughter. Who will run to the gas station with me at 1 am for nugget ice or sit in the driveway and sing with me for no reason like weirdos? Who’s gonna climb out of my sunroof singing You Don’t Own Me at the top of their lungs? I’m gonna miss the hugs and the conversations. I’m gonna miss your friends... oh how I’m going to miss your crazy ass friends. I’m gonna miss telling you what to do when you’re completely lost for words... holding you when your feelings take over and overwhelm you. I’ve been your tour guide on this journey for so long. You’re not lost anymore sweet girl, you’re on your way. You’re planning your own journey now and it’s going to be an amazing one, full of adventure and spontaneity. There will be hills and valleys. You’ll travel through light and there will be dark. Though I may not be there for every moment as I have in the past, I’ll still be here. Watching you explore uncharted territory, cheering your new discoveries and mourning your setbacks. Being your (and your siblings) mom is my privilege and my proudest achievement in this life.

Sometimes you look at the littles in your life and the tears just come because the love is so strong. Then you wonder how you got so lucky to be in their lives. There is such sweet simplicity and perfection amidst the chaos of life if you look for it. The in between moments are my favorites.

I spent the morning with this cutie. Miss Angel gave me so many kisses and sat more in my lap than she did for the shoot!
