I joined Keith Monfreda from Monfreda Creative Collectives this evening to learn about the grant writing process for artists. This workshop is free and very informative🧠💡. He shared how to come up with a game plan, grants that are available, answered my nonstop questions, and most importantly took away the fear of grant writing 🥰

The Vending Machine: This piece looks simple, but it took a long time to choose drinks that I thought represented the International Marketplace accurately. I used my experience as a cashier at Saraga, talked to friends, and scoped out the grocery stores in the area to make final selections. I was determined to get this right because I liked the idea of a vending machine that represents where our community comes from 🌏🧃🧉🧋🥤

I love our conversations and friendship💝 Please check out his work; Jean C.'s work speaks on the issues happening in the Democratic Republic of Congo and environmental issues. His work is stunning and he is on a mission.

MOTW coffee is smack dab between our homes, so this has become our go-to spot. The staff have grown accustomed to our faces, so this spot is creating great times for me🥰. Thank you for welcoming us.

Another year to reflect and much has happened. I'm fortunate to say many of the events in 2022 have been a great blessing. 🙏Two of my smaller goals were to see an alligator 🐊and Bison 🦬in their natural settings and I am beyond thrilled to have been able to do it.

Now on to thinking about where photography will take me in 2023. I hope one thing that will happen is more collaboration with some of my fellow artists!

I have wanted to see Bison for a while now. It took a bit of a hike, but I needed the exercise anyway 😂. It was incredible to see these beautiful creatures in person that were almost eradicated. 🦬

There were many signs stating to keep distance because the Bison can charge at you. This already made me nervous, but I had to see with my own eyes. When I found them, a Bison looked me right in the eyes 👀. That was my que to head on out of there. He kept looking back at me to make sure I was leaving. Because of my nervousness and warning most of my photos turned out shakey 😢

I thought going in that the Great Plains was a uneventful place, completely the opposite 🤎

I was nervous to take two elementary students on this trip, but it turned out to be memorable for all of us. We covered a lot of ground in 3 days, but there was so much more to see and do. I was disappointed at first, but that only means I have to go again.

I buy souvenirs, but photography helps me process what I have seen and learned-- this is the real prize.

I had the pleasure of photographing the Blackberry Jam Festival for the second time 💙 The vibe, venue, and family are wonderful. I also got to bring my kids with me this year and it is one of the top memories of the summer🌞 If you are ever looking for a venue to book a wedding or event is THE place!

There was a bit of a scare for a moment with the storm clouds, but they knew we were trying to have a good time, so they disappeared after they flew over the barn.🙏🏽
