A couple times each year, I go on-site to photograph headshots for the Professional Women’s Group at Dress for Success Indianapolis. During their LinkedIn workshops, participants update their profiles in real time, and I photograph headshots they can use immediately. It’s a meaningful (and fun!) way for me to give back to the community — using my skill set in a way that’s practical and directly useful.

Casting directors and decision-makers are paying closer attention to headshots more than ever.

Recent casting calls on NYCastings show a clear preference for images that communicate confidence, personality, and authenticity—fast. Stiff expressions and outdated photos quietly work against you.

A professional headshot isn’t about looking perfect. It’s about looking present, capable, and human. Before anyone reads your résumé or watches your reel, your image has already made an introduction.

I met Brenda at a networking event at Indy Mavens and took her headshot and learned she's a pretty interesting human.

Brenda Johnson, an author, storyteller, blogger and part-time Conner Prairie employee, is preparing to debut her one-woman show, “Aging. Reimagined!” on Nov. 9 at the Indiana Historical Society as the 2025 Frank Basile Emerging Stories Fellow.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the Studio Grand Opening celebration! 🎉

The energy was incredible! Seeing so many friends, clients, and new faces fill the new space truly made my heart happy. It was the perfect way to kick off this new chapter of creativity and community.
