Not much has been happening here with the Upstate Photo Community in the last year or so because life has been crazy.

I started this community to reignite my passion for photography while connecting with other people who are passionate about photography too. We get together to take photos together, be inspired by each other’s creativity and honestly in the last year have lost my passion. Most of the photos I’m taking are for work and I really have not been taking many photos for fun.

If you’re interested in getting together and taking some photos, please let me know. Shoot me a DM here or leave a comment. I’d love to get this community back together, but only if other people are actually interested.

We’d get together midweek sometime in the Hudson Valley or Catskills.

Astrophotography at Ashokan Reservoir with . The goal was to try to capture and incorporate some meteors from the Perseid meteor shower. I did see plenty of meteors, but didn't get anything compelling in my images. The conditions were definitely ideal for nighttime photos though!

Yes, there is a meteor shower this week. If you get a chance to photograph it, please share your photos! I’d love to see them.

Our biggest meteor showers this year are Perseids (8/11-8/13) and Geminids (12/13-12/14).

I will plan a photo night in August for Perseids so we can shoot it together. It’s my favorite meteor shower to watch and, as long as the weather is agreeable, we are guaranteed to see a ton of shooting stars!

The I Love NY Fall Foliage Map is OUT, and it's looking pretty orange for this long weekend! It's also Path Through History weekend and the last weekend of the camping season at many parks. It's the perfect weekend to explore New York. We hope to see you out making colorful fall memories!
