Did you know that the Whaler Inn is at located next to mile marker 7 1/4? Now you do. Because that is where this photo shoot started just before sunrise. Once again, as it happens often here. Just like yesterday, there was a cloud bank sitting on the horizon that was blocking this morning's, 7:21am sunrise. Ten minutes later, boom. The sunrise didn't disappoint. The brilliant ray of light that was bursting through the clouds were picturesque.

My walk in Pine Knoll Shores did not find many shells. There were a few odds and ends scattered about. I don't know if Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon were any better. Were you out there on the beach this morning. What did you find and where?

Ten minutes past ETA the sun broke free of the cloud bank and we got out stunning sunrise performance to start our day. 🌅🎉🥳❤️

Anticipation begins each morning the moment I wake. Will I get that photo shoot worth posting? I don't know why I put that pressure on myself. I guess it is human nature to not want to disappoint others. In my case, those that follow my page to view their happy place through my photography. This morning I was feeling sluggish because I stayed up later. Plus, we have had so much wind lately I was getting tired of it. Not only that, I don't like walking the beach as much during high tide. It forces you to walk on soft sand which makes it more physically challenging. In spite of all of my apprehension my auto pilot kicked in to head to the beach to watch the sunrise with ease on the pier. When I arrived the sky was muted and I feared that I wouldn't have a great photo shoot. I love those mornings that we have a burst of color starting 45 minutes before sunrise. Other times like this morning we have uncertainty of what we will get because there is an off shore cloud bank blocking the sunrise. I definitely wasn't sure if we would have that post sunrise breaking over the clouds for grand entrance. Then shabam, we had a sunrise finale that was gorgeous. All was well. I went home and went back to bed. 😆

Not even the blustery Northern winds could keep the diehards away. The pier and beach were bustling with activities. At sunrise both shellers and fisherman were out there looking to score the big one.

You know the drill, the daily sunrise beach walk photo shoot post will be up by noon.

Pelicans understood the assignment. Breakfast at the pier. So many of them showed up for it. Apparently fishing is good for all. Off the shore or on the Oceanana Fishing Pier. 🎣 And, the bacon cooking on the grill at Oceanana Restaurant smelled delicious. 🥓 😋

There were so many Pelicans at sunrise this morning. I wonder what was on their menu for early bird breakfast. One thing I know for sure the bacon cooking up on the grill at Oceanana Pier House Restaurant was smelling really good. 👍 😋

Now we are getting back to the normal late October weather. The past week we had a rude blast of wind chill coming from Nor'easterly winds. So much better to have today's forcast with a gentle wind and our high will reach 70⁰.

Shells were very randomly scattered about. But you never know what the ocean will wash up. Any day shelling is a good day. Especially when we have beautiful beach weather.

Good morning! The fabulous sunrise from the Oceanana pier had calm seas with light winds.

Found a few nice shells during my 2 mile walk on the beach. However, there weren't any substantially large shellbeds.

The full sunrise beach walk photo shoot post will be up by noon.

Golden hour perfection ✨️ 💛 👌 We had an absolutely beautiful sunrise this morning from Fort Macon. The blustery wind added a chill to the morning. I will take today's Northern 15mph winds anytime over the Nor'easter wind gusts at 45mph that we had over the past week. Nonetheless, it is very exciting to have the shells finally washing ashore from all of that wind.

As rare as it is to find a Scotch Bonnet at Atlantic Beach, NC, not only did I find one yesterday I found another one today. Yesterday, I gave the one that I found to a friend that is going through hard times to cheer her up. So, it felt all the more rewarding to be given one to keep for myself. The Spiny Jewelbox is a little bit more commonly found but it is rare enough that it feels like a winner for me to find them. The skeletal remains were an interesting find that are from a ray or a skate.
