Print two of three at . My work requires that I travel, occasionally to remote locations. While I did not need to go to North Cascades National Park, I considered the hour detour farther up highway 20 could be worth it. I had just picked up my (new to me) Sony A7rIV and was itching for something to capture. I tend to be a thrill seeker, which I think is the second component why I love shooting sunrise and sunset (the first being that good good light). I entered the park right as golden hour started and felt the familiar pressure of the good light fading and fleeting. Fueled by urgency, I sought unique compositions and show-stopping scenery to shoot and to validate my choice to rush here. Ultimately, the best location I could find was also one which is highly popular. Diablo Lake Overlook provided me with a private box seat for a sublime sunset. I had found my show-stopper, and yet, everything was wonderfully soft and still. A procession of fog began t
o fill the lake, as if to cover with the most gossamer blanket before the sun fully set and the world went to sleep. In those moments, to quote my good friend , "There is no without."
