Man sorry to hear of the passing of Carl Weathers. The Apollo Creed character was iconic. A flashy black man who took on the great white hope in Rocky had the world rooting against him in that first movie. But to come back in the second film and flip the script to have Black Americans, White Americans I mean the entire US of A rooting for him against Drago. Then for him to die in the ring brought tears to the eyes of everyone. Unified the damn country through a fictional character. I mean that meant a lot to a young impressionable little black boy. It may seem a little dramatic but I can say honestly that Apollo was a part of my childhood and I hope the actor that gave that character to me rests peacefully.

Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise, has died at the age of 76.
