Women’s March on Washington, DC.
January 21st, 2017

This photo is what it looks like to resist.
What it looks like to organize.
What it looks like when American Citizens refuse to accept the threats of authoritarian abuse. This sea of pink packed in train to train is what happened in every metro stop in DC that day because people bothered to care and take action.

It’s time to stand back up. It’s time to reorganize. It’s time to flood the streets of not just the Capital of the United States of America, but of every city in the US.

I hope this photo inspires all of you to get involved and do something that will make those in power fear for what they have done and will continue to do until all of us stop taking the easy or more@comfortable route.

What is happening in America today will continue to get worse, just like it happened in Germany in the years following 1924. Horrible atrocities will become common place here on our shores just like they have in so many other places unless good people stand up and act.

Resist. Organize. Vote. Act.

Seoul South Korea After Dark - Gangnam District

11 years ago I worked with for to capture footage and stills of their lovely hotel in the Dongdaemun district.

On our last evening before flying back to Baltimore our incredible assistant took us out for K-BBQ and refreshments after a brutal scheduled week of filming. This was one of the coldest nights I’ve ever experienced. Totally worth it, especially with all the soju.

On Pointe.

I'm still proud of this nearly 20-year-old work documenting a ballet company in the mid-south for Arkansas Life Magazine. It was one of several highlights in my career when it landed the cover.

17 or 18 years ago I worked as an editorial and commercial fashion photographer. I was self taught. My subscription to and my mother teaching me to sew certainly helped.

This was when I lived in The Natural State: Arkansas. Specifically Little Rock, a city where the former President of the United States of America was once the Governor of Arkansas.

During President Clinton’s tenure as a rising political star, he would run regularly through the streets of downtown Little Rock or workout and swim at the downtown .

Some of the best fashion photography I have ever created culminated in my ability to talk my way in to getting permission to use the then shuttered and decrepit YMCA building downtown, which had fallen into disuse and disarray by the time I arrived. It was one of the most beautiful locations I have ever been graced to be able to shoot in.

Not long before I left Little Rock for DC, I was finally able to meet President Bill Clinton (). I was part of the team that lit the library for its opening ceremony, and subsequent interview of President Clinton by Peter Jennings not long before Peter passed away.

Anyways, here are the best 7 images I produced in that beautiful relic of a structure - a home for community where a great American President once exercised while being an accessible person and living a truly public life.

My lunch today at reminded me of how good food really does go hand in hand with being a good citizen. Caring enough to be involved in the shaping of creating a country we wish to belong to comes down to a very simple concept. Care.

We must care. Care is service. Care is responsibility. A healthy country is built atop a foundation of care.

I once watched weep when fed a simple dish of eggs and potatoes fried in olive oil by a friend of his in Spain, while broadcasting his love and care for good food on . That kind of emotion is a beautiful reminder of this truth I revel at soaking in.

I think of that moment often.

Thank you José, for both your hospitality today over lunch, and for inviting me into your office to capture a moment of your passionate care.
