If words had a home, uncanny would no doubt live here, in Brentwood. Nah not Northeast Brentwood. Though its namesake’s no coincidence - both Brentwoods have its origins in the “Brentwood Estate” owned by the, Brents (who would’ve known) - this the Maryland side. But uncanny lives here not as a result of some ol yt proprietors proprietoring . If that’s the case you’d feel this everywhere.

only here that specific uncanny is felt.
That is, if you know the peculiar history;

* Summer 1965 - the k*k affiliated ‘white citizens council’ (wcc) aims to increase participation in pg county. Brentwood was selected 1st as recruiting home base. The First Baptist Church of North Brentwood becomes target of vandal and hate crimes. The Council is bust by a whistleblower who turns out to have infiltrated the WCC under the guise of being a “segregationis”. Rumors a small version of the council exist and still meet in Brentwood today

* Spring 1993 - 10yr Junior Burdynski is abducted in broad daylight, turning the community upside down. The cold case remains unsolved nearly 3 decades later. Further discovered large ped*philia rink in the neighborhood where several area kids are recorded. Even with the several bust and increased police presence, rumors of ped*philia rink (or one individual) in the vicinity exist today

GM from the Fort, a lil corner pocket neigborhood along the southern border. It’s a hybrid of commercial and residential spaces emanating from Pennsylvania Ave, meeting suitland road to the sw and ridge road to the ne - respectively. The hoods’ central point is the Fairfax Village Shopping Center @ the 3800blk where there’s rarely a dull moment. Few blocks down is the Ft. Davis Rec who threw the best halloween parties a youngin could ask for 😌 do they still do those? Locals & commuters also have access to a public library, historical park land, places of worship, access roads going downtown dc/upper marlboro, and views of the city only tha soufside can offer.

Although the senior vibe is present, the fort’s got its fair share of chaos. Not too many knuckleheads runnin around messin w/ folk. But between the never-ending traffic, packed W4 rides, or them fairfax condo shenanigans ... it’s bound to get a lil noisy. So just keep a leveled head and an open eye & you’ll be ard

Congress Heights


First off 🕊

This is Congress Heights — or more so a fraction of what really is, kinda hard to encapsulate this world in ten photos. But, I tried. Truth is, ik this area a lot more than I’d like to admit. One of the reasons I matured earlier than I wanted. One of the reasons I developed a thick skin. One of the reasons nothing shocks my core anymore. just desensitized. Why would it when you’ve seen it all. Or at least thought you have.

Many “first” was in or around congress heights. im talkn everything .. nah fr .. my first shawty stayed off lebaum, first lil summer job was at dawn to dusk, cashed my first check 💵 at the Ace Express, had my first fight ona a6. I wasn’t even from round there but somehow that congress heights vibe always caught up wit me 😂

The neighborhood’s Bounded by 295 to tha west, 1-5 (15thNCongress) to tha east and oxon run on the south/sw — the green line train runs thru this side but im letting you know now columbia & congress might both have 8 letters but that’s about all they got in common so don’t slip 💯 Tha hoods home to simon elementary, hart middle, and Big Bad Ballou High School 🗣[ voice] then the tennis center on mississippi might produce the next Serena 👀

Just like anywhere else in the city, they have their fair share of problems. ard it’s way more than a fair share but s**t, don’t act like yall don’t know tha real real. Ion need to type it out iykyk. But Seriously tho, can ya chill w the slidin??

a cool lil cityburb around northern pg county; actually it’s beside LP & 5-10min from Hyattsville. ima get straight to tha real, I’ve gotta lil grudge for one, tf is up with {193}/University Blvd!! No funny, but if you think Minnesota Ave been on their best bull the past decade you need to drive around “baby salvador” and see the f*xkery for yourself 🚧 S*t is ridiculous, whole undercarriage gon sound louder [than these niqqas snitching on theyselves in their
rap🧢 ] coming over here … so matter fact … just don’t

😮‍💨 Ard now I got tht off - Adelphi again’s a cool town, not the litest place around truth be told primarily due to its proximity to the well-known Langley Park area which gets all the attention on this side. in all honestly a few spots like “Golden Bull” and “Lane Manor Splash Park” are landmarks worth the visit. besides that you’re going next door for anything worthwhile. both Adelphi & LP are bounded by Riggs Rd. so all those ‘partments got that same vibe, meaning don’t f*x around when that sun goes down. Cause between the druggies, the drunks, and the 1️⃣3️⃣ last thing you’ll be worried about is a bumpy road 🤕

😂😂😂 just sittin here laughing right now … why ? cause it’s funny to me. how they think new street names are going to change anything. I mean fr, “Towne Park Road”… that’s cute, but tha real knows tha real. Matter fact, I won’t even namedrop the original legendary road — it’ll come first nature to a true suitland native. I’ll give you a hint tho; remember the 3H’s?? yea it’s only 1 left now. And that’s only the beginning as the city is slowly being phased into a proper suburbia with economic development continually in the works to further distant “the manor” from its lingering past. A past that ain’t all the way cleaned up btw

while the worst trenches been gone over a decade now, suitland remains one of the county’s most notorious areas. that happens when have no real plan … when you just slap a new name, new paint and a new slum lord to manage properties that were fckd to begin with
[ahmm “Verona”] and call it a day. not hard to see tht’s tha real.

So do those 🏗 in the sky imply something bigger is down the line 🤔 ig we’ll just wait and see
