Foundations of Graphite Drawing is officially underway at Bezwell Studios! Over the course of this year, students will learn to see the world as artists—carefully observing values, edges, light, shadow, and form while developing the graphite techniques needed to translate what they see onto paper.

We’ll build these skills progressively throughout the year, moving from foundational exercises into increasingly complex observational drawings.

At Bezwell Studios, our oil painting class doesn't just teach students to paint, it teaches them to think like artists.

Discover how understanding human anatomy transforms the way artists draw the figure in our Human Figure Drawing course. Through the study of bones, muscles, and surface landmarks, students develop the knowledge needed to create realistic, believable human forms with confidence and precision. Our first week of instruction begins with constructing the human head - one of the more challenging forms of the human body. Our instruction transforms complex artistic concepts into clear methods students can immediately understand and apply.

Our Visual Art Foundations course teaches elementary students the Elements of Art and Principles of Design through engaging, hands-on projects. In our Level II session (grades 3rd-6th), students grow in confidence as they begin exploring more advanced media including oil pastel, chalk pastel, acrylic paint, colored pencil, etc., learning not only how to use each medium, but when and why artists choose them.

Student Reflection "I learned about the elements of line, shape, and texture as I created my sea otter. I also learned about the principle of movement and used a variety of art media to create this piece."
