Shurden Studios offers a wide variety of sessions including wedding, newborn, family, and senior portraits. We also love to photograph babies and expecting mama’s. When should I book a session? Newborn sessions typically book about 4-12 weeks (sometimes even earlier!) in advance and approximately 4 weeks in advance for regular portrait sessions. We always try to accommodate everyone into our sched
ule when possible! When should I pay the Session Fee? What is included? A retainer of $30 is due to book your session. If payment is not received, your session date/time frame will be free for another to reserve. All session pricing can be found via the “Session Pricing” tab. We also offer a very popular Baby Plan! What happens after I book a session? After you contact Shurden Studios to set up a session, you should pay the non-refundable retainer to officially book your session on our calendar. Once this is completed, you will receive information on how to prepare for your session, what to wear, what to expect etc. We will then decide on a time and location – Recommendations can be made. Where does the session take place? Newborn sessions take place in our studio located in our home where we have full access to our collection of newborn props, hats, headbands, wraps, backdrops, blankets, etc. Portrait sessions can take place anywhere outdoors! We can suggest some of our favorite locations or we can go somewhere that is special to you. Please contact Shurden Studios regarding possible travel charges if your desired location is outside of the Huntsville/Madison area. What time of day do sessions take place? Newborn sessions typically take place in the morning & afternoon. It is highly recommend to schedule outdoor sessions in the evening, approximately 1-2 hours before sunset when the light is soft and beautiful. Mid-day sun is very harsh, which limits us to photographing only in the shade. Just about all of the outdoor sessions on our website were photographed in the evening! How long does the session last? A typical newborn session lasts anywhere from 2-3 hours, which is plenty of time needed for rocking, feeding, etc. Every newborn is different – Some sleep peacefully the entire session while others take a little more time, patience and feedings. Newborn sessions are not rushed and we will take as much time as needed to ensure we have captured beautiful photos. What happens after our session? Approximately 1-2 weeks after your session, you will receive a link to view your images on a complimentary online gallery. You are more than welcome to share the link with your friends & family. The online gallery will be active for ordering for 7 days. We ask that all orders be submitted before the gallery expires at the end of 7 days. The ordering process is fairly simple. We ask that you simply send an email listing the image name and product that you wish. Example : IMG_01 in 16×24 Gallery Wrap Canvas.
