My home in Morgan City, AL

My wife and I put several bird feeders and gourd bird houses in our yard. This little Tree Swallow and his mate were the first two birds to nest in our bird houses. Every morning, they go to the feeders and begin collecting branches for their nest. One afternoon, I noticed the male tree swallow sitting on the birdhouse stand and thought it would be a great photo. For this photo i used my Nikon Z50ii camera with a 50-250mm f4.5-6.3 lens. The settings for the photo were focal length 250mm, 1/400 shutter speed, f/6.3, and ISO 400. In post-edit, I slightly changed the tone of the background to make the bird stand out more. Also, I slightly brightened the highlight in his eye to draw the viewer's eye to his eye.

I was just sitting in my vehicle with my camera/lens while this common grackle came and landed on this branch along the water. The lighting was shining on it, enhancing its midnight blue feathers. You don't realize its exquisite feathers until the lighting shines on them just right.
