Honest confession. I chose photography because I thought I did not have to talk much.

And honestly, when I was shooting newborns it made perfect sense. Babies don't exactly need posing direction.

But then I switched to headshots and branding. And life had other plans.

Who would have thought that 80% of my job now is me using my very limited English vocabulary to guide my clients on posing.

But here is what I learned. Sometimes when we do the things that make us uncomfortable, that is when we realize we are so much more capable than we ever thought we were.

Life is funny sometimes. And I would not change it for the world.

Your brand is more than your business. It is your why. And this portrait right here is mine.

For most business owners, that why has a face. Sometimes a few little faces. Sometimes a fur baby. Sometimes a parent or a best friend.

Because the people and the things we love are usually the reason we wake up early, stay up late, and keep going even when it gets hard. And to me, a brand story without that is an incomplete story.

This is why I always leave room for the people who matter most in every branding session. Because whoever you are building this for deserves to be part of your story too.

Your brand should tell the whole story. Not just the part the world sees. But the part that drives you when nobody is watching.

A photo session is not always about looking and feeling your best. Sometimes it is about finding yourself again.

Four years ago, he came to me during one of the toughest seasons of his life. We did a session together. And when he saw his photos, something shifted. He saw someone who was still young. Still full of possibility. Still with a bright future ahead.

That is the power of an intentional photo session.

Not just a pretty picture. But a mirror. A moment to pause, see yourself clearly, and ask yourself the questions that matter most. Where am I going? What do I want? Who am I becoming?

This is a vulnerable one. But I am ready to share it.

Growing up in my home country, I was the only gay person I knew. For the longest time, I thought something was wrong with me. I felt lonely. Abnormal. Different in a way nobody around me understood.

The pressure of hiding who I was became too much. I avoided family gatherings. I avoided holidays. I avoided anything that forced me to pretend.

So I packed up my life and moved to the farthest country I could. I chose a new beginning.

Through years of healing, I found my way back to myself. And I made the most important decision of my life.

I chose to stop living in guilt and shame.
I chose to accept myself.
I chose me.

This might not feel like a big deal here in the US. But in my home country it is still a taboo. And there are still people out there feeling exactly the way I felt. Lonely. Like something is wrong with them.

Nothing is wrong with you. Nothing was ever wrong with me.

You are not alone. You are seen. And you are safe here.

Meet Janice from One Hiraya. But not the Janice you might already know.

This is Janice with her business hat on. Confident. Powerful. Ready to take on the world.
