If you've known me more than a minute, you know how passionate I am about birth stories. For a while there, birth photography was what I wanted to primarily pursue. I am in absolute awe of birthing bodies. There's so much strength and vulnerability and overcoming. And it's not always the perfect fairytale we hope for, but every single story deserves to be honored and uplifted as beautiful.

This is and her right hand man, Rebecca. They're the powerhouse behind all of your favorite FAE events - and . (Did I forget any?)

Holly and Rebecca are some of the most badass women I know. Every year, they field tons of questions, navigate last minute catastrophes, and pull hundreds of vendors together to bring you the absolute magic that is the Renaissance Faire.

Holly works harder than most people you know. I promise. So I was really excited to have the opportunity to take a few quick photos this past weekend at . This is a thank you for everything she does to make these events special and safe and incredible for every person who walks through the gates. And for putting up with all my emails. 👀

I can't really get over how freaking badass these amazing women look.

One year ago, I couldn't swim.

Water has scared me for my entire life. I have what I would call a healthy respect for the ocean, in that it scares the hell out of me. I remember watching the waves from boulders in Acadia and being equal parts in awe and terrified. I was prescribed Xanax to fly across the ocean to Ireland in 2018. It's a fear that's lived with me as long as I can remember.

Maybe it's because I almost drowned once as a kid. I don't know. But somehow, despite this fear, I have found myself drawn to the water.

Underwater photography is something altogether different. It's only seconds at a time, but each time you go under, you enter a different world. A world we're not really made for, that we only get to visit. And to feel part of it for a moment is magical. It's intoxicating. I can't get enough of it.

So I learned to swim. And I've put myself in the water. And I've challenged myself along the way.

Last weekend was something I never could have seen myself doing before, but somehow I was belly down on the floor of a Florida spring, looking into a 20 foot pit as .wild.ethereal dove into it and emerged gracefully. Literally facing my fear and somehow popping back up for air and not having the panic attack I would have imagined.

Before I left to come home, I had already looked up where to get certified in freediving. Less than a week after coming home, I've made plans to work underwater as much as I can going forward.

I feel the walls closing in around me every day. And I just can't let them. So when it feels scary, I try to run towards it. I try to punch and kick and stretch the walls so that they can't tighten around me.

Because look what's on the other side of fear. I mean. Can you believe I spent my whole life afraid of water, only to take these photos? I hardly can, myself.

The giveaway is happening tomorrow!! Stop by my booth on the island at 2:00 for the drawing, and the shoot itself will happen at 5:00.

For the shoot, when you're coming into the faire, right before you go through the tunnel, turn left and walk to the end - if you're heading towards the island, turn left right before the purple flower gate. I'll be right at the corner!

Let me tell you about this wonderful woman, .

I've lost track of how many years it's been since we first met up at Peace Valley Park to do a Lady of Shalott shoot, or how many times we've met since then to go on photographic adventures.

Meg is wonderfully creative on both sides of the camera and in so many aspects of life. She's also just a really solid friend.

For the past few months, she's also been saving my butt as my business manager! Helping me stay on task, reach goals and continue to expand on my dream of serving my clients the best that I possibly can.

I am really lucky to have this amazing woman in my life.

These are from a shoot a few weeks ago to celebrate Meg's birthday.
