One last time
29 years ago at 15 I started racing in an unpainted car i dont even think the roll cage was painted, and a purple firesuit. Over the years Ive been able to do alot of things in racing, some good, like setting the most consecutive heat race wins for mini stocks for 1997 at Baer Field Soeedway, and some bad, like restarting a kart race not seeing that someone pulled out and stalled as i threw the green.
I have been lucky enough to race, flag and shoot at places that don't exist anymore as well. Places like, Avilla, Baer Field, Bunker Hill, South Bend, Stateline, and G&S.
I have a few good memories I'll always take, like helping dad win a tour championship in '96, a track championship in '06, and helping kids learn basic racecraft whenever they asked. But also things I wish I had got to do, I never won a main, and never got to race against my dad, although I did beat him in what I call an older 3/4 midget in South Dakota once.
And now that it's nearing its end somewhat professionally I'd be remissed if I didn't thank some of the people that have supported, helped and been there for this ride.
