When in quarantine, take a trip to the redwoods, see a lot of nature, stand in awe, return home, and then spend the next month stressing about editing everything you shot for no reason, only for it only to end up in little squares on a tiny screen just to remember you were “there.”

Really struggling to keep myself on a creative roll in shooting/editing/sharing, but it’s been a weird year so let’s all remember to be kinder to ourselves, right?

Anyway, scenes from a silent, ancient forest are a panacea for burnout, or so I told myself as I began to tone the shots I took over the trip.

2020, you were terrible, but there were some shining lights. This month as we wrap up the longest year ever I’ll be posting some of the other work that I’ve shot, buried on my hard drive, and never did anything with. Stay tuned!

I miss traveling. All the highs and all the lows. Jet lag, learning new words in a different language and mispronouncing them but getting the point across with a smile anyway, finding new favorite places, the blisters, the confusion and map reading, getting lost and finding your way again.

Let’s keep wearing masks, staying home, getting tested, and being kind so we can get back to globetrotting one day.

From a trip to Japan that seems like decades ago, in the golden days of 2013 before the world fell apart.

While LA is nowhere near as smoky and apocalyptic as other parts of the state, it’s still surreal and scary walking outside your door.

That little white pinprick is the sun, and that sickly yellow color that’s in our sky is real, “no filter.” We took the dog for a walk just now and this is what we saw.

Climate change is real, it’s happening right now, and we have an opportunity to make real progress and fight for a better future. This can’t continue. We owe so much to the brave people fighting to keep these fires contained, but there’s so much ground to cover and so much more time left in fire season. Please, take action and push for aggressive climate initiatives.

Another peaceful protest photo I found in my camera roll, taken on the corner of Figueroa where Zach’s office is located.

Keep protesting, keep reading, keep listening, keep sharing, keep learning, keep calling, keep emailing, keep fighting, keep trying.

Physically? We’re in Los Angeles and it’s raining (?!) and we’re self-quarantining. There’s not a roll of toilet paper to be found within 10 miles.

But mentally? Definitely eating custard tarts and drinking wine out of a bottle on a beach somewhere in Portugal.

Be kind, people! It’s a crazy world out there right now. @ Lisbon, Portugal
