A Nor’easter was not exactly what Emily and Ben had in mind when they chose Newport for its beautiful coastal setting.
It rained. all. day.
They never let the weather become the story.
Emily had designed every detail of this wedding so thoughtfully, and it was incredible. And when the forecast refused to cooperate, she and Ben did exactly what I wish every couple would do: they trusted their team, stayed present, and enjoyed the day they actually had instead of worrying about the one they’d imagined.
I was determined that at some point, I would convince them to get a little wet, and they came through. Into the rain. Into the wind. Out to the Belle Mer view they’d chosen for a reason.
We were out there for maybe a minute. I was completely soaked, my shoes were squelching for the rest of the night, and it was 100% worth it.
You don’t need perfect weather to have an incredible wedding day. You need good people, a little flexibility, and the willingness to say yes when someone suggests running into a Nor’easter.
