This is the kind of session I wish more families booked. 🤍

Not just the kids. Not just Mom and Dad. Everyone.

Grandparents, grown children, siblings, spouses, cousins and all the little ones together in one place. We made sure to get the big family portraits, but also broke everyone down into individual families, couples, siblings, grandparents with their people — and of course made plenty of room for the running, laughing and chaos in between.

And doing it all barefoot in the sand with that soft Lake Michigan sunset? Perfection. 🌊

Extended family sessions can feel intimidating when there are this many people, but they don’t have to feel stiff or like an hour-long lineup of “everyone look at me and smile.” Give me the traditional portraits Grandma wants, and then let everyone have some fun.

These are the photos that only become more valuable with time. 🤍

Get in the picture. Bring the grandparents. Bring everybody. You’ll never regret having too many photographs of the people you love. 📸

Some moments are too fleeting to trust to memory alone.

The newborn stage passes in the blink of an eye. Tiny fingers eventually let go. Curled-up sleepy stretches become first steps. Before you know it, that newborn scent and those impossibly little feet are only memories.

That’s why I love lifestyle newborn sessions.

They’re not about perfectly posed babies—they’re about preserving the connection. The way a mother instinctively leans in for one more kiss. The pride in a father’s eyes as he holds his daughter. The peaceful quiet that fills the room while your newest little love sleeps.

This sweet session at Samantha Joy Studio in Grand Rapids was everything I love about newborn photography: soft light, genuine emotion, and a family completely wrapped up in one another.

Thank you for trusting me with these first memories. They are the beginning of a beautiful story.

Some weddings don’t need a ballroom or a luxury venue to feel extraordinary.

Sometimes it’s a backyard filled with family, a willow tree that’s witnessed years of memories, laughter echoing across the lawn, and two people who are simply overjoyed to marry each other.

This day was exactly that.
