It's a distinct pleasure to develop customers that I work with every summer. This July was the sixth summer in a row where I photographed Kennedy. Five years ago we started a tradition where we start our portrait session in front of a lovely blue cottage at Lakeside. Kennedy's mother, Sarah, and I have an agreement that I will photograph Kennedy through her high school years.

I recently had a fun little shoot for Lake Erie Living Magazine promoting Marie Casey, the new restaurant owner, of Kelley Island's "The Village Pump", an island staple with a world famous Brandy Alexander drink. I had never had one before... it is gooooood! As was my lunch! Thank you Marie for your hospitality!

Hot off the press! I received my English copy of Maestro Max (with my cover photo), a limited edition release printing of the autobiography of nationally, and internationally known violinist and conductor, Max Rabinovitsj (pronounced Rabinovitz). It was published in French, also, and printed in France by Max's daughter, Tova.

In my blog from a few years ago, I described the seven minute portrait session before rain came, threatening Max's priceless violin, and more importantly... Max's incredible story of how he, with the help of his father, avoided the Nazi's as a child. This story has all the elements of a Steven Spielberg production, and he's lucky that he is alive today.

I recently took this portrait of Hani Alotaibi for this article. Hani is a KSU PHD student and Project Manager at Global Wordsmiths, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

I took this business portrait of Matt Fish before Covid and before his great restaurant chain Melt Bar and Grilled took a turn for the worse.

In an article in today's Plain Dealer, Leigh Anne Zinsmeister, managing editor for Restaurant Hospitality magazine, offered a succinct assessment of Melt's demise: "Melt was at the front end of a trend that ran its course, hammered by the pandemic and the economy. Their cycle was over."

I thank Matt for his great support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, where I served on the board and Matt and his employees donated time and food, serving the house guests amazing Melt Bar and Grilled specialties.

I had some great meals at Melt and have tremendous respect for Matt, who I consider a friend. I'm sure his next chapter will be a brilliant one!

Melt's last stand/garage sale started Friday and carries on today and Sunday from noon-6p.m. at 14718 Detroit Ave, Lakewood. Adult beverages and memorabilia can be purchased. There will be no food service.

TRANSFORMATIONAL MOMENTS

I was chatting with my lovely subject of this Classic Portrait the other night at a Christmas party. On Mother's Day, her in-laws had gifted her (and her husband) a Classic Portrait session with me.

She mentioned that she she had some doubts initially. Was there session going to be special, or forced? Would the results be noteworthy?

I think of my first few moments with my Classic Portrait subjects as a bit of a dance. I familiarize myself with them, they familiarize themselves with me. We talk while I take their first few portraits. We laugh. Sometimes we even cry as we get to know each other.

We then have what I call a "Transformational Moment" where they are fully comfortable and natural in front of the camera. They forget that they are getting their portrait taken. And they become their natural self right in front of my eyes, right in front of my lens.

I would love to have a Transformational Moment with you, your children, or your grandchildren.
