On the last whale watch with Newburyport Whale Watch, we had a great trip. There were lots of whales and other critters to shoot, but some of my favorite shots from that day were of atmospheric conditions. We ran through multiple fog banks on both the out going and incomming trips. On the incoming trip the sun was lower on the horizon and the fog was between us and the sun making for some interesting shots. Including a fog halo seemingly coming off of the side of the boat and my favorite shot of the day that I call "The guiding light". Enjoy!!!

Join our naturalist team and I on our last trip of the season. We have a great time and enjoy a Lime Rickey while relaxing in one of the many rocking chairs overlooking Gotsport Harbor.

The fall southern migration actually starts as early as late June, but the heaviest starts in late August and goes into October. Egrets are a fairly early migrator and start to congregate at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Complex in mid August. The large flights and the crowding of perceived prime resting spots makes for a lot of interesting interactions. I spent 6 hours in PRNWR yesterday photographing many of the migrating birds, but certainly the most fun to watch were a large group of Snowy Egrets that had a Great Egret and a GBH mixed into the group. Yesterday afternoon Cheryl and I were just sitting, reading in the living room. She looked out the window and said that the fawns were right in front of the condo. I grabbed the camera and to the end of the unit. They immediately saw me so I backed up out of view, layed on the ground and crawled like a sniper around the side of the condo to get some close shots. The fawns frequently looked like they were talking to each other and if you open each pic you can see what they were saying. Pics taken in Bryant Woods, Atkinson, NH Enjoy!!!!!
