If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a mom, it’s this:

Who they are on day one
is who they are at two,
at ten,
and at fourteen.

They grow.
Their voices change.
Those sweet baby curls become little-kid ringlets, then teenage curls.

But underneath it all,
your baby is still the same little person you brought into this world.

The same little soul.
The same little quirks.
The same person you somehow knew before you even knew them.

So capture it.

The sleepy snuggles.
The toddler chaos.
The tiny hands.
The way they fit together right now.

Because this season is beautiful—and it goes so. incredibly. fast.

There is nothing quite like the sacred space of motherhood. 🤍

Sitting here now, with four kids ages 15 to 8, I can look back so sweetly at my younger self and confidently say: she had NO IDEA what was coming. 😅

She was young,
She had very little experience with babies,
And she was wildly idealistic in a very “my kids will never…” sort of way.

(I know, I know. 😂 I have so much more grace for her now. She learned that indeed, her kids would - just like everyone else’s.)

But there was one thing she didn’t have to learn:

✨Love.✨

What it meant to love your baby so much that you willingly sacrifice for them—

Sleep.
Energy.
Your schedule.
Your career.
Personal time.
The best bite of a cinnamon bun.
Or the first perfect lick of an ice cream cone.
(If you know, you know. 😂)

She knew what it meant to give of yourself more than you knew you had,
even before she fully understood what that would look like.

And that’s why I know, sweet mama,
you’re going to be just fine. 🤍

If you’re waiting for your little one and wondering if you’ll know what to do…

If you’ll do well.

If you’ll be enough.

If you’ll be able to love them enough.

I’m telling you now: you’re going to be just fine.

Because motherhood isn’t something you have to have all figured out before your baby arrives.

It becomes part of who you are as you grow alongside them

-while still being all of the other things you already are.

You don’t have to know everything.

You just have to love them.

And that, sweet mama, I already know you can do.

This time of year, so many of us are getting ready for back-to-school—and that includes me. 🤍

As a homeschooling mom of four, I realized early on that my kids weren’t going to have those traditional school pictures every year… unless I took them!

I started photographing the kids in our homeschool co-op, and then I discovered Fine Art Portraits through Photographer Coach Elena S Blair. I fell in love with the way these portraits capture so much more than a smile for the camera—they capture the child.

I realized I could offer this experience to other homeschool families, too—not just the families in our co-op.

Every time I do a newborn session, it takes me right back to those days.

The sleepless, love-drunk blur of having a newborn.

The peach fuzz hair. The tiny cries. The constant puzzle of figuring it all out. (Whether it’s baby #1 or baby #4, it’s still a puzzle 😅)

The way time seemed to slow down and speed up all at once.

And every time I’m sitting there with a new mama—whether she’s a mama of one, two, or more (because yes, you’re new again too)—I’m in awe of how easily I’ve forgotten what it was like.

What it felt like.

The rhythm of those days and nights that somehow led me to where I am right now.

I love every stage of motherhood, and I’m enjoying the heck out of my “babies” exactly where they are.

But oh…to go back and cradle them in my arms one more time. 🥹

I’m telling you this because you may think you don’t need the photos.

You may not be sure you want to make the investment.

Or maybe you’re worried it will feel “weird” to be in front of the camera.

It won’t. I promise. 🤍

And I also promise you won’t regret having those photos.

Because one day, you’ll look back and realize just how quickly this season disappeared.

And when that little one is 16 and heading out to take their road test, you’re going to be so incredibly glad you have photographs that take you right back to when they fit so perfectly in your arms. 🤍

Maybe you’re telling yourself you don’t need maternity photos.

“I’ll do newborn photos instead”
“I’m not comfortable in front of the camera.”
“I don’t feel like myself right now.”
“We can just take some ourselves.”
“There are so many other things to spend money on.”

I get it. Especially as a first-time mom, there’s already so much to think about.

But here’s what I know now, as a mom of four:

Once your baby is here, the “before” is gone forever.

You won’t remember exactly what it felt like to be pregnant with your first.
You won’t remember what it was like to be just the two of you, waiting for the person who was about to change everything.

And someday, you’ll want to see it.

Not just your belly. You’ll want to remember YOU.

So take the photos. Bring your hubby. Chase the sunset.

✨Let yourself be celebrated in this season.✨

Because soon, you’ll be tired, sleep-deprived, completely in love—and so grateful you have these photos to remind you of the woman standing on the edge of it all. 🤍

Before my first was born, I had no idea what to expect.

I had no idea what I was doing or how deeply I would love this little person—or how much I would change right alongside him.

And now, he’s taller than me… and honestly, I still don’t always feel like I know what I’m doing. 😂

Because motherhood isn’t something we eventually “figure out.” We grow into it, one season at a time. ✨

If you’re waiting for your first baby, you’re standing at the beginning of a season that will change you in ways you can’t imagine yet.

The woman you are today will never be exactly the same again.🤍

So let’s document this season. The growing belly. The anticipation. The excitement. The woman you are right before everything changes.
