Tired of the word CHIC so here we are just posting something else to fill your feed that doesn’t contain the trending word.

Yesterday Eddie was telling me that his company is downsizing. We started talking about steps to take in the event that he was a part of the downsize. I asked him about his resume and he said, “ I haven’t touched it in 10 years. I said, “oh my WORD, I touch mine EVERY SINGLE DAY. “

This is my resume…. I sell myself every single day on this app. My husband hasn’t sold himself or his skillset in 10 years because he has worked for the same company. It is wild for me to even fathom not having to constantly think about how to get new clients, how to keep myself in the market for clients, and what would happen to business if all of a sudden I couldn’t post anything anymore. Those are the things you think of EVERY single DAY as an entrepreneur.

I want to know…. When was the last time you touched your resume?

Today, I DID NOT want to come to work. This weekend was a really sad. One of the most faithful women I have ever known passed away and her celebration of life was yesterday. I really wanted to move back all of my shoots so I could just lay in bed ROT away… but then I remembered the first face I was going to see. My sweet client Annie whom I haven’t seen since the beginning of her battle with cancer was my first client of the day. I honestly couldn’t wait to see her and give her another portrait with her daughter. Sometimes, knowing your clients truly keeps you showing up for things you don’t feel ready for. Today I wasn’t ready to be around people…. But then I remembered that I was go in to be-able to give her something that I couldn’t give my kids grandmother. I could give her another year of portraits with her little girl because she survived! Last year when Gaia was here I asked her great grandmother if she would meet me at the studio so I could take a portrait of her with Gaia. She said, honey, I am just not driving that far anymore. I said, okay, I understand… I truly thought I would have TIME to drive out to her and do it at her house…. BUT I didn’t. I didn’t do it fast enough because I thought she would always be around….. I didn’t get that portrait. She died before I could do it so today was a humbling reminder that time is limited and showing up is so important.
