I met many years ago while I was interning at a recording studio. She was in high school at the time, and her band director/producer had noticed she had a vocal and songwriting talent he wanted to nurture. She was probably 14 or 15 at the time, and I could tell she had an ear for coming up with really catchy hooks. Over a decade later, I finally got her in the studio to create some of the images I’ve always seen in my head when I hear her music. She’s an amazing vocalist, songwriter, and producer now. Her music is colorful, dreamy, vibey. Electronic pop you want to sing a long and dance to. As we shot I got to hear some incredible stuff she’s been keeping in the vault. I can’t wait to hear what else she releases when she’s ready to let the world hear it.

I get to meet some very cool people doing this job. and his partner are a couple of these people. Faith reached out to me last summer to photograph Adam after an interview with Houston Public Media. We shot some cool portraits on the Steinway inside of the Lyric Tower downtown, and got to know each other better afterwards at Lyric Market across the street where Adam plays on Fridays. I was in the middle of a hard season then, and their warmth and presence were a gift I didn’t expect.

Some months later, they asked me to photograph a recording session where I got to shoot a little differently than is usual for me. These are some of my favorites.

Had a lovely test in preparation for the workshop with and the talented who will be taking part that day to help us create beautiful images

We will be exploring different ways to illustrate different moods to accomplish our vision through lighting and styling.

These three portraits are all about softness — delicate styling, luminous skin, and lighting all contribute to creating dreamy editorial style images. The variable shifted here is lighting. All soft, but different.

Hey guys! I’m finally doing a workshop!

Join me for a hands-on class, in collaboration with .camera.exchange, where we’ll dive into creative direction, styling, and lighting to create editorial fashion portraits with vision. Makeup for our model will be done by the incredibly talented Cori Aston, bringing a polished, professional touch to each look.

My goal is to give you an experience that feels like stepping onto a real set — where you’re not just learning technical skills, but also how to think creatively as a fashion photographer.

The only requirement is being comfortable shooting in manual. Beyond that, whether you’re new to the studio or more experienced, you’ll walk away with fresh inspiration and practical tools to elevate your work.
