Solitary sandpiper looking at his own reflection. Solitary sandpipers migrate alone which is unlike most all other shore birds who migrate in large flocks.

Long-billed curlew in flight
This bird has one of the longest bills of any shore bird and it uses it to probe sand and mud for small crabs and invertebrates - note the sand on his bill. Like most shore birds, they migrate great distances from their breeding grounds in the great plains to their wintering areas along the Texas coast and down into Mexico and Central America. Their undersides are a beautiful cinnamon color - one of my favorite shore birds.
