Imagine your best friend… whoever that may be.. one of the few people you know really has your back no matter what happens in life. The one you trusted would never judge you for any of your flaws. The one that if you ever needed anything, they would be there in a second and you would for them. One of the few people that really knew you and accepted you, flaws and all. Ok, got that person in your head? Now imagine a mutual friend calling you and telling you that person is in the ICU. Then imagine them passing away the next day.

A hurt that I never imagined I would experience so soon happened exactly a year from today. Losing her has been for lack of a better word, hard. And that doesn’t even begin to hold the weight of the grief I feel when I think of her not being here anymore. But somehow, someway life goes on. The world doesn’t stop because you lost a close friend and yet I sit here tonight, sad yet thankful.

Sad that I no longer have my dawg, but also thankful because I know she’s with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I feel like I have so much more life to live here with my fam but also met with a lingering anticipation of seeing her again after my time is up here. If you ever lost someone as close as I have, my prayer is that God continues to give you a supernatural strength to endure the waves of grief when they come in and ask that you do the same for me. As time goes on, it gets easier to deal with but days like today, grief seems to flood back in. I’ll be good though!

If you never said a prayer for me before, if you read all of this, I ask that you say one for me today! 🙏 🕊️
