m87 and the Virgo supercluster. A wide field image can truly show the expansiveness of our universe. If you look closely there are 10’s if not 100’s of galaxy’s in this photo. And each of those galaxy’s have billions to trillions of stars. Makes you wonder if there are any beings in those galaxies looking at ours as a small insignificant smudge on a camera sensor.

Been a minute since I did some Astrophotography. Quick little snapshot of the Tadpole Nebula. Still amazes me what a small telescope and camera can capture.

A window into heaven?

The Eagle Nebula is home to the Pillars of Creation. Each color represents a different type of gas that makes up the nebula. Hydrogen is green, sulfur is red, and oxygen is blue.

After a cloudy winter in Houston and some annoying technical difficulties I finally have an image to share.

The whirlpool galaxy was one of the first DSO’s I tried to image. This is my third attempt and I am pleased with the progress. This galaxy is around 23 million light years and one of the Milky Way’s closest neighbors. Enjoy!

This is the target that got me into astrophotography. The reason why I started this long journey was to be able to see for myself that this stuff is actually out there. With a small telescope and camera you can peer into the night sky and see the things that you otherwise would not be able too.

The horsehead nebula is absolutely stunning. Color version to come when I get some more clear nights. Enjoy!

I wanted to try to finish this with RGB added in but Tropical Storm Imelda had other ideas for the Houston area. Please keep southeast Texas in your prayers as the flooding has been catastrophic.

The Ghost Nebula is a very dim target. Even with 5 hours of Ha data it is still very noisy but I do like the way it turned out.

M33 the Triangulum Galaxy. This galaxy orbits the gravitational center of our very own Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy. This means it is the second closest galaxy to our own. The telescope I am using has a relatively wide field of view and it fits nicely within the frame.
