…aaaand I’m back.
Portland has been an adjustment, but stepping back into a creative shoot here just feels right. Starting over is scary, but it’s also exciting to meet new people.

Last week I met Macey. I randomly saw a Facebook post from someone looking for a photographer in Portland and immediately commented “me, me, me!!!” There were about 40 other photographers in the comments, so I prepared myself for rejection and moved on, lol.

But here we are.

came in knowing exactly what poses she wanted. She brought the vision, I brought the lights. We ran through four different light setups in under two hours !!! Her mom was there hyping us up and trusting me while I asked her daughter to balance on one leg on a wooden box and hold the pose for over a minute ha!

Anyway, this was the best possible kickoff session.

This is Penny.
She’s a Bernese Mountain dog and genuinely one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met.
She belongs to my 80-year-old neighbor Mr. Larry (a.k.a. Mr. Penny). We met at the park after Penny and my dog decided they were best friends, and now here we are doing a pink backdrop photoshoot.

On a side note, starting my photography business over again in Portland has been a little weird and a little hard, but doing shoots like this reminds me why I love photography so much. Dogs are still my favorite subjects.
Anyway. Penny nailed it. 💗🐾

I guess we’re painting Portland red 😉
One of my photos from the Not Just Red series (shot back in 2023!) was selected by Black Box Gallery PDX for their Color Photography Exhibition! 🔴
It’ll be featured in the online annex and catalog launching November 1. So pumped to see this image still getting some love. ❤️

Big shoutout to Ania for absolutely killing it with her poses. This shoot was all about creative gels, bold lighting, and, of course, my favorite color to shoot: red.

I came across this on my way to lunch, and I thought it was beautiful, so I took a photo.
This isn’t about politics; it’s about humanity.

We share far more with our neighbors than we realize. Immigration, economy, equality, identity… these are shaped by society, but at the core, we’re the same. The real dividing line isn’t left or right, it’s whether we choose love or hate.

We don’t need to harm one another to prove a point. We don’t need to tear each other down to be heard. At the end of the day, we all want the same things: safety, peace, and a chance to live fully. When we remember that, it’s easier to see that our neighbors are just like us.

To all my friends who think right, to all my friends who think left, and to all my friends who want to be in the middle, or 3/4 or 1/8, I know we want the same: understanding, and big ass glass of red wine.

Thank you for spreading love. Let’s keep Portland weird, and beered. 🍻

(And no, I don’t carry my camera everywhere. David convinced me to capture the moment, and then drove back home to grab the proper lens.)

This week I got to meet and photograph some absolute characters at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston . They’re all so ready to find their people. Some are tiny, some are chunky, some are young, and some have seen a few things. But every single one of them deserves a chance to be happy in a home full of love. BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions

Call BARC if you want to meet them! Here’s a little intro for each one, in order of appearance:

🐾Miel (A2026086) He’s five months old and fits in a purse or backpack. If you want a sidekick to strut around in matching outfits while you shop and sip, Miel is your soulmate.

🐾Petra (A2024839) Petra is one year old and built like a monster truck, but in her mind she’s a tiny little lap dog. If you’re the type of person who cancels plans to watch Love Island in the same pajamas for three days straight while eating Doritos and cold pizza, she gets it. She’s got a huge heart and will happily be your emotional support potato. You’ll fall for her fast.

🐾Godiva (A2025837) �She’s one year old and her love language is snacks. If your ideal weekend includes hanging out at a beer garden with a cold drink and a cool dog, Godiva is 100% that girl. She’ll make you look good.

🐾Chop (A2026104) Seven years old, nosey as hell. He knows all the BARC tea. If you want a buddy to judge strangers with and sip wine while watching people walk by, Chop is your man.

🐾Cina (A2024451) Classic codependent. People pleaser. Probably has a little ADHD. Cina is two years old and has been patiently waiting for a family to impress. She just wants you to love her, and honestly... how could you not?

🐾Beau (A1655330) Beau is seven and wise. He’s here for the deep conversations, quiet afternoons, and a little existential pondering. Big fan of novels, and pretending not to judge you (but he probably is, just a little).

🐾Kelly (A2024231) Hiking? Running? Road trip? Whatever it is, Kelly’s already in the car. She’s the kind of dog who’s down to camp, explore trails, and splash in creeks. Full of energy and ready for the next adventure.

🐾Manteca (A2026078) This baby loves food, cuddles, and being the center of attention. Five months old and already stealing hearts. Ideal match: a family with a pantry full of snacks.
