Ahead of Aspen Art Week, I was commissioned to make photographs for Art Basel's latest feature on what makes Aspen one of the art world's favorite summer retreats.

This week, Aspen Art Museum and Art Basel have come together to present Collector Camp, taking place from July 27 to 31 and bringing together cultural leaders for an intimate program of learning and exchange in Aspen. The gathering also coincides with AIR, Aspen Art Museum’s annual festival, and culminates with the ArtCrush Gala and Auction.

Special thanks to Jeanne-Salomé Rochat, Juliette Amoros, as well as the many kind folks I spent time with in Aspen. I walked about 25,000 steps each day, commuted around using the city's free bikes, and squeezed in an early morning hike up to Smuggler Mountain Overlook for a magical view of the town at sunrise.

Ahead of Aspen Art Week, I was commissioned to make photographs for Art Basel’s latest feature on what makes Aspen one of the art world’s favorite summer retreats.

On Tuesday, Knopf will release a 50th anniversary edition of Edna Lewis’s The Taste of Country Cooking, featuring a new design and a foreword by historian and author Toni Tipton-Martin. Since its original publication, the book has come to be regarded as a pioneering work in American culinary literature. Lewis, who continued writing from the 1970s until her death in 2006 at age 89, influenced generations of Black cooks. “She reclaims what was previously used to marginalize,” Tipton-Martin says.
