These little Kindergarten graduates absolutely stole my heart this week! From oversized pencils to missing teeth and proud little smiles, this season is such a sweet reminder of how quickly childhood flies by.

Kindergarten graduation sessions are one of my favorite milestones to photograph because these images become treasures years from now — especially when senior year comes and you realize just how tiny they once were. 🥹

At first glance, Autry comes across intense, not in a negative way - but as focused, steady, & completely locked in.

But spend a few minutes with him, and you realize there’s so much more there… a genuinely kind heart, a quiet humility, and a sweetness that balances that drive in the best way.

As a competitive sports clay shooter, that mix of discipline and heart is exactly what sets him apart—and it’s what made this session so special to capture.

Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion - Steele Magnolias

To every senior mom who feels like she might cry over the smallest thing right now… I just want you to know—you’re not crazy. You’re not “too emotional.” You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. 🤍

Having walked alongside thousands of senior families—and now having two of my own who have graduated—I understand this season in a way that’s hard to put into words.

Spring of senior year is when it all starts to feel real.

The last games.
The last performances.
The last banquets.
Prom. Awards. Senior trips.

And then… the firsts begin.

College acceptances.
Turning 18.
Stepping into adulthood.

And underneath all of it—quietly, but powerfully—is this realization:

Our baby is celebrating… while we’re also preparing to let them go.

Of course, we don’t lose them.
In many ways, my relationships with my kids are even deeper now than they were before.

But things do change.
And our mama hearts feel that.

What I’ve noticed—both personally and in so many of you—is that when that grief and sadness start to rise, our nervous system tries to protect us.

Instead of letting us sit in the sadness (which feels endless), it shifts us into:

Overwhelm.
Stress.
Busyness.
Short tempers.
That constant feeling of “I can’t keep up.”

Because somehow, stress feels more manageable than heartbreak.

But here’s what I want to gently remind you:

It’s okay to feel sad.
It’s okay if this season feels heavier than you expected.
It doesn’t mean anything is wrong—it means you’ve loved deeply.

And if I could offer you one thing, it would be this—

Be intentional right now.

All the things that feel urgent…
All the details…
All the pressure…

None of that will matter as much as:

The conversations.
The laughter.
The memories you’re creating in these final months.

So when you feel yourself spinning, pause and tell yourself:

“I see you. I know I’m sad and overwhelmed… but this is also a joyful time. Everything is okay. It will all get done.”

And then choose—on purpose—to be present.

To smile.
To soak it in.
To let your child see you enjoying them.

Because that’s what they’ll carry with them.

And mama… you’re doing better than you think. 🤍
