I absolutely LOVE volume dance photography. It is a blast going into dance studios and capturing their recital's costume portraits. It is hard work. It is specialized work. On average, I am photographing a dancer every minute. The majority of them are between the ages of 4-12. Yes, there are some older dancers, but the MAJORITY of them are 4-12 years old.

However, I occasionally have a chance to do something other than the traditional recital portraits while I am, in fact, photographing traditional recital dance portraits.

At a new studio for me this year, the young lady that assisted me with posing for this studio is heading to California at the end of this summer to chase her dance dream. I asked her if she would come in a few minutes early before we started on our second of two days for some portraits as a way for me to thank her for her exceptional help. She is also the daughter of one of the studio owners. We had about 15 minutes before I had to turn on my lights and start photographing a 5-7 year old class.

These are what she selected from that short session.

Chloe, I can't wait to see you in the big lights or on the Big screen!
