This morning we're going back underground a few hundred feet, into Carlsbad Caverns.
I must have had a good place to hold my camera steady for a long exposure in this location!! This is a 1.5 second exposure.
TGIF!!

With occasional light rain, and the likelihood of heavy rain moving in, we didn't venture out into the dunes too far from the truck. One of the images I wanted to capture while at White Sands National Park was of a single yucca plant in the dunes.
While not the composition I was wanting, I "settled for" this plant. (wish it would have been about 1/3 of the way down from the top)
I definitely wanted to shoot with those beautiful clouds in the background!
Next time we'll venture farther from the road....

I don't usually know WHO purchases one of my images on Fine Art America, because FAA only tells me the location of the buyer. However, in this particular case I know who the buyer is, because she told me that she wanted a print of a particular image before her purchase.....
With that being said, I want to personally thank Diane Cavanagh Shoemaker for her purchase this morning!!
I hope you enjoy seeing it hanging on your wall as much as I enjoyed capturing the image.

Guess it's pretty obvious where this was taken. 😉 I wanted to get something posted before I have to leave for a few hours; and this image was 'just sittin' there', waiting to be posted.
This was taken when we visited Bear Country U.S.A., on the day that we got rained out trying to get pictures of Mt. Rushmore.
I'll post some images of real bears later.

Back in June, the day before the photo workshop began, I had some time to drive around the Palouse area of SE Washington.
This is one of the images I captured that day.

So much has happened, and we've been to so many places since then...... I'd almost forgotten that we drove through Palo Duro Canyon (Texas) on our trip!!
Here are a couple of images from the drive down into the canyon.
(I didn't take many pictures down there because of the time of day; but I wanted Kim to see the canyon)

When we planned our visit to South Dakota and Wyoming to look at potential future places to live, we didn't realize that the 82nd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was taking place the week that we were in South Dakota.
We sure saw a LOT of bikes on the Interstate while driving, as well as the U.S. Highways, County Roads & RV parks. Apparently, many of the folks that attend the rally, haul their bikes up there in trailers....towed behind their RV's. We had a few in every park we stayed at in SD.
The first day we tried to photograph Mt. Rushmore through the tunnel, it started raining really hard when we got within 3 miles of the tunnel. This created a couple of problems: 1) We couldn't see Mt. Rushmore because of the rain & low clouds, and 2) The tunnel was filled with bikers trying to stay dry. As a matter of fact, the tunnels (I had to go through 3 of them) were so full of bikers, that I barely had room to get our 3/4-ton p/u through without hitting a bike!!
We visited Sturgis on the last day of the rally, took a few pictures, bought a couple of (discount priced) t-shirts, and headed down the highway to Deadwood!
For all my biker friends, I dedicate these images to you!! This is all the pictures I took in Sturgis.

Tonight's images are a couple I captured while in South Dakota.
The first one is the very recognizable Mount Rushmore, taken from a location about 15 miles away, just outside the tunnel I posted a picture of a few days ago.
The second one is another captured in Sioux Falls, while we were walking all over and around the falls.
Not sure yet where I'll take y'all tomorrow.

This morning I'm sharing a couple of images I captured on our vacation.
The first one is of a cabin I noticed on our drive into Cimarron Canyon, NM. Don't know how old it is; but it got my attention.
The second one is of an old railroad depot (now a museum) in Centennial, CO that we passed that we passed on our way to the Snowy Range Scenic Byway.
Hope you all had a great weekend & have a productive week!

One of the places we visited while in Rapid City, SD was Bear Country USA. It is like a drive-in zoo, where you drive through areas of different animals. Each area has structures & habitat that the animals are familiar with.
Here are a few images I captured of black bears and a bison.

I know it's after "tomorrow morning", but I guess I took a little nap after Kim watched her Sunday morning news & discussion shows!
Anyway, it's good to be home again.
We had quite a trip, met some nice folks along the way, saw some more of this beautiful country, and may have a better idea where we want to relocate to. I even captured a 'few' more images to add to my collection, as well as some really special ones that get to go to Fine Art America, where they can be turned into wonderful gifts & keepsakes.
In the meantime, I want to share this image of Steptoe Butte that I captured one evening, after attending the photography workshop in eastern Washington a few months ago.
Have a great Sunday afternoon!!
