After running under lights twice before, Mallboro Rojo decided it was pretty scary tonight & he needed to jump the finish line light. Life can be hard when you're 2. Jockey, Rosendo Pina Garcia took it all in stride. :)

Waiting out the delay before the 7th race at Sam Houston Race Park. Those ladies at the fence had no idea they were visiting with the eventual winner, Faith of Fire. I can't believe Walter Layland wasn't smiling.

Best Ride of the Night Award goes to: Olvin Martinez!! When you're going 550 yards & the field scratches down to 5 horses, you just go along for the ride & stay out of the horse's way. He couldn't have been folded down on her any more than he was. It looked like a fun ride. Great job, Olvin!

Congratulations to jockey Aniceto Gomez on getting his first career win! He & Slippery Slopes won their Sam Houston Fututity Trial going 350 yards in :17.92. He was all smiles as he sported his new "Broke My Maiden" haircut a few races later. Great job, Aniceto!

History was made Friday night at Sam Houston Race Park when the 10th race ended in a TRIPLE DEAD HEAT!! Congratulations to First Tartanero Jess who was not only a FIRST TIME STARTER but also a pickup mount for jockey Angel Fierro, Sunny Boi with jockey Olvin Martinez, & Noah Moon with jockey, Francisco Giles.....you all made the history books!
There was also a dead heat for 5th!!! 🤷‍♀️

I shot a triple dead heat in 2014 in a Thoroughbred race at Evangeline, & it was unbelievable that I was blessed enough to shoot this one for the Quarters!!!

Favorite Conversation of the Night: Amongst several young 20 something guys as they were all yelling for the 6 horse as the horses loaded in the gate.
Group: "Go, 6! Go, 6!"
One guy: "Wait! They don't know their number. What's its name?"
After consulting the program, Group: "Go, Priscila! Go, Priscila!
