A couple of very different views of Galveston today.

Caught this rainbow over the island this morning, then later watched a rain shower moving across the Gulf behind the Historic Pleasure Pier.

Blue skies and sunshine in one direction, rain falling over the water in another. Pretty typical Galveston weather, but it certainly makes for some interesting photos.

Always keep a camera close.

Happy Labor Day!

For the first time since spring, the sunrise is finally late enough that I can stop at the beach and watch it before heading to work. Sunrise was around 6:59 this morning, and I have definitely missed starting my day with this view.

Labor Day is a day to recognize the contributions of working people and everything their labor has helped build in our communities. Hopefully today gives you a chance to slow down, spend some time with the people you love, and enjoy a little of what you work so hard for.

Not a bad way to start the morning in Galveston.

Back from NYC… now the real work begins. 🎥📸

Spending some time at MOD Coffeehouse getting photos, video, and stories organized from our trip to New York City.

I came home with a lot of media — street scenes, landmarks, little moments, behind-the-scenes footage, and plenty of stories that deserve more than one giant photo dump.

So over the next few weeks, I’m going to be sharing a little NYC series here: photography, video, favorite places, travel moments, and some of the stories behind what I captured.

On May 31, 2026, my son and I had the chance to step aboard the Juan Sebastián de Elcano while it was docked in Galveston.

I put together a short documentary-style video from the visit with some of the footage I captured aboard the ship.

The Juan Sebastián de Elcano docked in Galveston felt like something from another time.

On May 31, 2026, my son and I had the chance to step aboard this Spanish Navy training ship while it was here on the island. The ship has been sailing for nearly a century, carrying cadets, tradition, and maritime history from port to port.

It was one of those experiences that made history feel real — not distant, not tucked away in a book, but right there in the wood, brass, rigging, flags, and scale of the ship above us.

A working ship. A floating classroom. A piece of living history. And for us, a memory I am grateful to have captured.

Coffee, video edits, and island life.

Spending part of the day at Conex Coffee editing recent client work while Rocky gets groomed nearby at Wagabonz. One of my favorite parts of being a Galveston photographer is getting to work in and around the local places that make this island feel like home.

Gracie apparently skipped the Hill Country and came straight to Galveston for a little beach day. Sunglasses, sun hat, umbrella, Pleasure Pier views… honestly, she’s living her best life.

No giraffes were actually photographed on the beach… this is an AI edit just for laughs. But if Gracie ever does need a portrait session, Ronald Ross Photography is available. 🦒📸
