Not every photo has to be planned.

This morning on the Galveston Seawall, I caught the Dutch Orange Bus — De beroemde Oranjebus — making its way along the island during the official debut and sendoff. 🧡🚌🌊

Between the Gulf waves, the clouds, and that bold Dutch orange, it was one of those fun, unexpected Galveston moments that was absolutely worth capturing.

Editing a proposal video today with my trusty servant Patsy by my side.

Name that movie! 😂

I love getting to piece these moments together after the fact. The reactions, the little in-between moments, and all the emotion that happens so fast in real life start turning into something they can go back and watch forever.

Patsy (aka Rocky) is clearly here for moral support and quality control. 🐾

Spent some time on the west end of Galveston tonight waiting on a surprise proposal session in Sea Isle and caught this scene rolling across the water.

The sunset stayed hidden behind the clouds for most of the evening, but every now and then the light would break through just enough to reflect across the bay. Quiet water, moving clouds, and that calm feeling you only really get out on the west end.

One of the things I love about photography is arriving early enough to slow down and notice moments like this before the real story of the evening even begins.

Rainy waves in Galveston this morning. Gray skies, steady surf, and the sound of rain mixing with the Gulf.

Some mornings out here are all color and sunrise light. Other mornings feel quieter like this. Just the waves rolling in, wind off the water, and rain tapping against the car while the beach disappears into the haze.

Still one of my favorite views on the island.

That engine rumble gets me every time.

Caught the red biplane from Scallywag Air flying over Galveston today, and it instantly made me stop what I was doing just to watch for a minute.

Photography may be one of my biggest passions, but airplanes and anything space-related are right there with it. Something about old aircraft and radial engines just feels timeless.

One of the many little moments that makes the island feel alive.

Sometimes Galveston gives you these small quiet moments that end up being more interesting than the big event itself.

I was set up near the end of the seawall this afternoon watching the Carnival Jubilee head out into the Gulf, and meanwhile these pigeons had absolutely no concern about the thousands of people sailing away for vacation. They were just busy doing pigeon things on the rocks. 😂

That’s honestly part of why I enjoy photography around the island so much. There’s always something happening in the background if you slow down enough to notice it.

A work in progress!

Stopped by this mural today honoring astronaut Christina Koch and the Artemis II mission. It’s being painted by local artist Art Works by Justin Lopez and is located on Postoffice and 22nd St in Galveston.

I like catching pieces like this before they’re finished. You get to see the process and where it’s headed before it all comes together.

Caught the Carnival Jubilee pulling out of port today while I was over at Katie’s Seafood House in Galveston. It never gets old watching these ships head out.

Everything moves slow and steady at first, then before you know it they’re out in the Gulf and on their way. Just one of those everyday scenes here that people don’t always think about.

Another normal day on the island.

While we were away this week Rocky checked in for his own little vacation at Dogs at Dolphin View here in Galveston. They sent these photos during his stay and it looks like he had a pretty great time.

It always makes traveling easier when you know your dog is in good hands and being well taken care of. Looks like Rocky made some friends and enjoyed his time on the island.
