Caught the Carnival Jubilee pulling out of port today while I was over at Katie’s Seafood House in Galveston. It never gets old watching these ships head out.

Everything moves slow and steady at first, then before you know it they’re out in the Gulf and on their way. Just one of those everyday scenes here that people don’t always think about.

Another normal day on the island.

While we were away this week Rocky checked in for his own little vacation at Dogs at Dolphin View here in Galveston. They sent these photos during his stay and it looks like he had a pretty great time.

It always makes traveling easier when you know your dog is in good hands and being well taken care of. Looks like Rocky made some friends and enjoyed his time on the island.

Always find your beauty.

Spring Break starts next week in Galveston, but this morning felt quiet and almost hidden. The fog rolled in and covered the sunrise completely. No bright colors. No dramatic horizon. Just steady Gulf waves and the sound of birds in the background.

Not every sunrise on the Texas coast puts on a show, but there is still something peaceful about a calm, foggy beach morning before the crowds arrive. This is Galveston in its softer moments.

If you are heading to the island for Spring Break, make time for an early walk on the seawall. Even when you cannot see the sun, there is still beauty here.

Always find your beauty.

Spring is around the corner in Galveston and you can feel it. The water is starting to shift, the island light looks a little warmer, and even a foggy morning at the Pleasure Pier feels like the calm before Spring Break.

Spotted a classic Vespa, caught some beautiful Gulf water, and soaked in one of those quiet island mornings before the crowds roll in next week. This is why I love living and shooting on the Texas coast.

Hanging out at Scout Bar tonight waiting for Texas Dan to take the stage! 🎸

There’s just something about live music, stage lights, and that split second before the first note hits.

Doing a little rock band photography on a school night… totally worth it. 🤘

Happy Monday ☀️

We pass this water tank every morning, and I always watch for the days when the sun lines up just right to cast this palm silhouette across it. In a few weeks, with daylight savings time, the light will shift and this little moment will disappear for a while.

One of my favorite things about photography is noticing how quickly light changes and how important it is to capture it when it shows up.

Enjoy the little things today. They do not last forever.

Editing senior photos from the Aquarium Pyramid at Moody Gardens tonight while watching a Happily Ever After live stream and hanging with my Husky assistant, Rocky 🐾

This senior session inside the aquarium in Galveston was such a fun one to photograph. The tunnel, the ocean backdrop, the cap and gown silhouette… stunning!

If you’re a high school senior (or parent of one) and want something different than the typical field or brick wall photos, let’s plan something unique inside the aquarium.

I would LOVE to photograph more senior sessions like this.

Photography and barbecue have more in common than people think.

Both require patience. You wait for the right light. You wait for the right expression.

And with barbecue, you wait for the bark to set, the smoke to roll, and time to do its thing.

Some days I’m photographing seniors, families, and events in Galveston. Today I’m tending the smoker. Same mindset. Different subject.

Low and slow wins every time.

Saturday, February 7, 2026, I was out walking around during Mardi Gras in Galveston and the last parade I caught that afternoon was the 100.3 The Bull’s Ragin Cajun Bull Ride + Art Car & Jeep Parade.

If you’ve never seen the art cars up close, they’re something else. So much creativity packed into every detail. And the Jeeps definitely showed up and showed out. Add in the sunshine and bright blue skies and it turned into a pretty great afternoon on the island.

If you were out there for the Art Car and Jeep Parade, take a look and see if you spot something familiar.

Two weeks ago during Mardi Gras in Galveston, I spent some time just walking around between parades with my camera.

No big plan. Just moving through the crowds and catching whatever stood out.

Blue skies, sunshine, beads around everyone’s neck, families finding spots along the route, music drifting through the streets. Sometimes the best photos aren’t even from the parade itself. They’re the in-between moments. People laughing. Kids comparing their bead collections. Friends just enjoying the day.

These are a few random shots from the afternoon while the island was fully alive.

If you were out there Saturday, there’s a good chance you walked right past me at some point.

And if you’re planning family photos, senior portraits, or just want updated pictures while you’re visiting Galveston, this city gives you a pretty great backdrop, especially on a day like that.

PART 4 OF 4

Final set from Saturday afternoon’s Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Parade (2/7/26) in Galveston.

Sunshine, blue skies, and another great Mardi Gras on the island. Days like this are why Galveston is such a great place for events, family memories, and photos that feel alive.

If you see yourself in any of these posts, tag and share. Until the next parade.

PART 3 OF 4

Here’s another round from the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Parade (2/7/26).

There’s something about a sunny afternoon parade in Galveston. Kids reaching for beads, music rolling down the streets, and that bright Gulf Coast sky overhead.

Mardi Gras during the day just has a different kind of energy.

Final group coming next.
