As an update, i haven’t yet “calibrated” my camera. But i have used the same camera for several days in a row. That may be a record for me-as i have several cameras and unadvisedly use them almost simultaneously. I’ve taken all with me on many occasions. I have LEARNED (what? What is that?) that it is not only unadviseable but impossible to manage all the parts, have all batteries, SD cards, lenses, and a lot of other stuff to successfully take photos and learn at the same time. It is impossible for anyone to “FOCUS” while juggling multiple thoughts, actions, or cameras!
Breaking news: our brains do not work by multitasking. I’ve learned that science describes our minds having varying speeds of shifting attention from one thing to the next and that we have varying amounts of pieces of information (data) that we can hold in our present (short term) memory banks. But you can’t think two things at once! You can’t! What did i say? Can’t!
I can’t take and practice and get better at using my Nikon D5500, if i also think about the iphone i carry with me as though it was implanted, AND my NIkon Coolpix B700 4.3-258mm with 60x wide zoom capability. The coolpix is muuuch easier to use, feels light and comfortable and takes GREAT pictures even at my always “beginning” level! So, why, you might ask, do i hassle with my iphone and D5500? Besides my Intentional Impairment as well as impairments in Focus, motivation, interest, perseverance, ability to sustain attention on anything i don’t like, want, or feel like doing, inertia, and shifting gears (like nails on a chalkboard), there is no logical reason. So, i’m advising myself today to stick with the one camera, practice using different f stops on one target in the same period. There. I’m ready to shoot! Hobby launched! sheepish emoji! (There isn’t one in this list!)
