Mark & Ellen — two of my favorite humans.
Compassionate, funny, and loving!

I first photographed their wedding back in 2017 —
Now, years later, I get to capture them again, as parents and partners — teammates in the calm and the chaos of real life.

They’ve grown softer in some ways, stronger in others.
Still madly in love, but with a love that’s deeper now — weathered, grounded, real.

Because love like this isn’t effortless. It’s built, tended, fought for.
It’s honest. It’s work. It’s choosing each other again and again —
through laughter and late nights, through storms and stillness.

Real love isn’t about perfection.
It’s about grace, and the quiet way two people keep finding their way back to each other.

Ellen for a personal portrait project - I’m Mourning But You Won’t Let Me - an ongoing photographic exploration of grief — not as something to overcome, but as something that continues to live quietly within us. This work began when I realized how often we’re told to be strong, to move on, to tidy our sadness into something palatable. But grief doesn’t obey timelines. It lingers in the corners of daily life — in light, in silence, in the things left unsaid.

Through these images, I’m trying to give form to what the world often asks us to hide: the tenderness of absence, the beauty in brokenness, the stillness that follows loss of different forms. This series is both a confession and an act of resistance — a way of saying I’m still feeling, still remembering, still learning to live with what’s gone.
