“Corn field and oil fields”
It had been a long time since I last captured the starry sky. Last night, I finally did it. I really liked all the elements in the image: the stars reflecting in the puddle of water in the foreground and the pumpjack in the background surrounded by the corn fields, and the best, the galactic core adorning the sky.

Ya hacia mucho tiempo desde la ultima vez que capture el cielo estrellado. Anoche finalmente lo hice. Me gustaron mucho todos los elementos de la imagen: las estrellas reflejandose en el charco de agua en primer plano y al fondo el balancín petrolero rodeado por los maizales, y lo mejor, el centro galáctico adornando el cielo.

This Sunday, I went to Spicewood, thinking I wouldn’t find any bluebonnets left at Muleshoe Bend. But to my surprise, there were still plenty of flowers—and spectacular skies—thanks to a series of storms passing through Central Texas.

I chose that title for this photo I captured yesterday because of a situation our family is currently going through: the passing of one of our most beloved members. An uncle passed away this week, and I simply want to say that this is the sentiment that perhaps many of us in the family are feeling right now: a bittersweet feeling—bitter because he is gone and it hurts us deeply; yet sweet, too, because of how much he left behind for all of us who loved him. So many good moments, unforgettable experiences, and—above all—his sons and daughters who, more than just my cousins, are like siblings to me, and through whom he continues to live on among us.
In loving memory of my dear Uncle Abel.

Quise ponerle ese titulo a esta foto que capture ayer por una situacion que estamos pasando en la familia: la muerte de uno de los miembros mas queridos. Esta semana fallecio un tio y sencillamente quiero decir que esa es la sensacion que quiza muchos de mi familia sentimos ahora: un sentimiento agridulce porque se nos ha ido y nos duele muchisimo. Pero tambien nos deja tanto a todos los que lo quisimos. Tantos buenos momentos, experiencias inolvidables y principalmente sus hijos e hijas que mas que mis primos son mis hermanos y que mediante ellos el sigue estando con nosotros.
En memoria de mi querido tio Abel.

I was chasing bluebonnets again yesterday, this time at Old Baylor Park, and I arrived just in time to capture the storm that swept through several parts of the state and the country, bringing rain, hail, tornadoes, and even snow. There was a bit of hail there, so I couldn’t take many pictures, but this is one of the few I managed to get.

Ayer fui nuevamente a perseguir Bluebonnets, esta vez a Old Baylor Park y llegue justo a tiempo para capturar la tormenta que paso en varias partes del Estado y del pais dejando lluvia, granizo, tornados y hasta nieve.
