Getting the chance to explore the Katla ice cave was a great experience and a memory we will remember fondly.

Great morning racing to beat the weather and get to the bottom of Stuðlagil Canyon. Thanks for the recommendation Iceland Travel - DMC

You can’t see it from here but we are on the rim of the volcano. If that doesn’t show the sheer scale of things here in Iceland I am not sure what will!

You can’t see it from this photo but we are on the rim of Hverfjall Crater. If that doesn’t tell you the scale of things here, I’m not sure what could!

I started writing a cookbook for Madison. Now I’m getting ready to share it with you.
It’s called Mad’s First Kitchen - a cookbook for people learning their way around a kitchen, one meal at a
time.
The idea is simple: explain the things experienced cooks sometimes forget to explain. Give people
recipes they actually want to make. And help them build the confidence to keep cooking.
Alongside the recipes, QR-linked Kitchen Skills Academy lessons will help bring the techniques to life.
We’re targeting a November 2026 hardcover release on Amazon. The launch list is open now, and I’d
love to have you on it.
Take a look inside and sign up for previews, book updates, and an email when it’s available:

Know someone getting their first kitchen - or someone who could use a little more confidence in the one
they already have? Send this their way.

One of the craziest traditions I have seen during my travels. The owner estimates approximately $800,000 are attached to the walls and ceiling of this iconic bar and restaurant with customers adding to it daily. As they say “it’s a great place, if you can find it”

Currently in Marathon Florida preparing to shoot a sailing documentary project over the next few weeks. I have missed east voast beaches and sunrises!

I have been working on a short documentary over the past few weeks. Would love your honest feedback before I begin making the longer version.
This is the Creative statement
From Condemned to Freedom is a short documentary about what happens when a person is forced to face death and discovers a different way to live. After a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, Charles Van Orden moved from fear toward peace, and from the distance of judgment toward the intimacy of service. Rather than telling a story of simple triumph, the film explores a quieter transformation: how mortality can strip life down to what matters most, and how purpose can be found in walking beside others through their suffering.
Visually, the film contrasts institutions of illness and law with moments of stillness, reflection, and human presence. The goal is to create a restrained, compassionate portrait that feels intimate rather than performative, and honest rather than sentimental. At its heart, this is a story about peace, love, and the choice to use whatever time remains in service of other people. Charles’s interviews frame life as gift, his wife grounds the cost and fear of the diagnosis, and the client and friend reveal how that inner change now shows up in the world around him.
