If you know me even a little, you know how much I love beautiful trees. After photographing more than 200 families during my Under the Tree minis, I can confidently say this has become one of my signature sessions, with many families returning year after year each fall.

There is something so special about combining nature, play, and family connection. One of the most rewarding parts is watching your little ones grow over the years while documenting those memories in the exact same spot, with this incredible tree standing in the background.

I never thought choosing just eight images for my interview with Voyage Houston magazine would be so difficult!

After eight years of photographing families and newborns, there are simply too many sessions and images that hold a special place in my heart. 🥹

Here are a few newborn detail images I absolutely love. Which one do you think I should choose to represent my newborn detail work?

Do you want to preserve your baby’s tiny details forever—those adorable little toes, fingers, eyelashes, lips, and sweet expressions? Be sure to look for these types of images in your photographer’s portfolio. Capturing these details requires a specialized macro lens, along with the technique and experience that come with years of practice. It’s a great question to ask before booking your session, as not every photographer offers this style of imagery.

Can you spot something special on the corner of the last photo here?! I only got to realize this almost two years later. Full story below. ⬇️

It was October 2024.

I was taking photos of Ceci in our backyard while she watered some plants. I was anxious and stressed. I had already been speaking about Palestine for a year and was paying a price for refusing to stay silent. I had decided to use my platform to love all children, with no exceptions, and to speak up for those whose voices are constantly silenced. I was being attacked by many clients. And I would do it all over again!

Not everyone understood that choice, even some of the people closest to me. But I knew I had to remain true to myself. We need the courage to fight for a better world for all of us, but especially for our children.

While taking these last photos, I fell down a step while walking backwards and badly sprained my ankle. I was on the ground in pain, unable to move, until my neighbor finally heard me screaming for help. I had so many sessions scheduled, my husband was leaving on two work trips the very next day, and I remember wondering how we were going to make it through. But life has a beautiful way of placing angels in our path when we need them most.

I was so traumatized by that day that I never looked back at these photos until a few days ago. When I looked closer, I spotted something very special in the corner of the last image. Can you spot it too?

These photos remind me of the beauty that can emerge from difficult seasons. Of the powerful transformations we endure when we allow ourselves to be who we are instead of fighting it. Beautiful things can come from hard times if we pay attention to them.

My business is deeply aligned with my values, and I would never turn away from that. 🤍

Help me pick the image that best represents my work for my Houston magazine interview! ✨

This is one of my favorite in-home maternity sessions for so many reasons. First, this family is an absolute joy to photograph. We always have so much fun! Second, they hold a special place in both my heart and my photography journey—they were the very first family to trust me with both their maternity and newborn photos back in 2018. I can’t believe it’s been eight years since I’ve been doing this! Still feels like a dream. ❤️

Because of that, I know one of these images will make the final cut.

The tiniest details have a way of stealing my heart every single time.

The soft cheeks. The delicate lashes. The little lips. The way their features seem to change overnight, as if they’re growing right before our eyes.

These are the details we think we’ll never forget, but somehow time gently blurs them. That’s why photographs matter. They allow us to hold onto the fleeting beauty of this season long after tiny newborn faces have grown into curious toddlers and big kids.

For just a little while, they stay this small. 🤍
