A good indoor tour isn’t just about how well you can fly through a building

It’s about how well you can communicate a space while doing it 🎯

But the technical details still matter..

Exposure & White Balance: Consistent, natural-looking footage
Throttle Control: Maintaining a steady altitude
Flight Speed: Giving viewers time to understand what they’re seeing
Flight Path: Creating a logical flow through the building

Always keep in mind that the goal isn’t to just “fly” through the building..

It’s to help someone understand it 🚀

Introducing the Creative Pilot Rating 💯🚁

How do you actually measure the skill of a drone pilot?

Experience ≠ skill.. Getting paid doesn’t automatically mean your work is any good.. or meets a ‘professional’ standard

Being told your footage “looks good” doesn’t tell you what you need to improve

That’s why I made this..

A 20-point scoring system built around four pillars:

- Flight Control
- Composition
- Image
- Edit

The goal isn’t just to give pilots a score.. It’s to help them understand where they stand, identify weaknesses, and create a clear path toward improvement 🚀

If we’re going to raise the standard of professional drone work, we first have to define what that standard looks like..

That’s what I’m building toward..

Agree or disagree?

Let’s hear it 🚀

I’m here to raise the standard of drone media and that means saying things not everyone is going to agree with..

Questioning what the drone industry has accepted as “good enough” and putting clear language around what professional work should ACTUALLY look like..

These are a few of the hills I’ll die on 🎯

It doesn’t matter if you’re filming one of the most popular places in the world..

If you don’t ask the right questions before you launch the drone the video can 100% miss the point the marking is trying to make

The subject isn’t the strategy..

If you fly without knowing what the viewer needs to understand, you’re just collecting random footage 🙅🏻‍♂️

Before you fly, ask better questions:

What is the goal of the video?
What matters most about this location?
What does the viewer need to understand?
What context do they need?
What should they remember when the video is over?

That should influence how you fly, how you frame it, and what ultimately makes the cut..

Basic drone pilot asks “what can I film”

Professional creators ask “what does the viewer need to understand”

Better questions create better decisions..

And better decisions create better videos 🚀
