It's time to say goodbye. I am officially "closing the doors" to this little business I've grown over the past 11 years.

I do believe I was called to this work. I feel led to help people on a bigger scale and take out the financial aspect of what I am doing.

My birth and postpartum group will still be active. I will post the group link in the comments. I will volunteer my time to help with birth planning, setting up meal trains, and wherever else I can. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out for help. I have some other great things in store also, so stay tuned!

It starts out as a hobby and grows into a passion, which rapidly turns into a business plan. The business plan quickly turns into stress and starts to suck the joy out of what you’re trying to do. Or at least that’s what happened to me.

We get sucked into society’s “boss babe” mentality and quickly lose grip, and burnout sets in… you start to wonder, is it really worth it?

Recently I was flirting with the idea of fully letting my business go. The constant stress of not doing enough, being enough, and meeting the standard of what a successful business “looks like.” I told myself that I needed to sit on it for a while, you know, not make an irrational decision during my luteal phase, IYKYK. I am glad I sat on it; I came to a totally different mindset.

Who says you have to post on social media consistently to run a successful business? Who says you have to be some boss babe that is doing all of the things? Who says you need to share photos from all or any of your sessions? Who says you have to document your life to build relationships with people? These are lies I’ve told myself. Comparison really is the thief of joy.

Maybe I am wrong; maybe I shouldn’t call this a business; maybe I want it to be a hobby! I want this to be a place where I can create with all of you without the “boss babe” stress. A place where I can help families navigate birth & postpartum; without it being too much on me. I am not looking for this “business” to feed my family. I just want to be a resource and create when it feels fun.

So yes, I am here. I am still doing photography, I am still helping families “plan” for their births, and I am still offering postpartum support and meal trains. For now.

Don’t take my silence as failure; take it as growth.

Hannah & Taylor welcomed baby girl Laurel into the world on January 31st. The last thing a family should have to worry about during postpartum is what's for dinner. There is a new family in need of a Meal Train on my page. Unfortunately, this family isn't in the typical postpartum period. They have suffered loss, 5 months into their pregnancy, and have had to say goodbye to their angel baby Leo Macen. 💔💔

What is considered birth trauma? That seems like a loaded question, birth trauma is whatever that mama says it is. If you felt your experience was traumatic, it was. It doesn't just go away because ultimately mom and baby are healthy.

I can guarantee that you know someone who has had a traumatic birth experience. When someone opens up and shares their story with you just listen, you don't need the answers, you don't need to give advice, just hear her.

I wrote down my own birth story for the first time in 12 years, I didn't realize how healing that would feel. I highly recommend doing this mamas, whether your experience was traumatic or not! Write it down, pause and cry, stop and come back to it. Doing this helped me so much and I hope it helps you too.
