The Rock River Archaeological Society was organized in August 1998 for the purpose of studying the rich Native American cultural and archaeological history of the upper Rock River area, including Horicon Marsh and extending throughout southern Wisconsin. Through regularly scheduled meetings, field trips and special events, members develop a better understanding and deeper appreciation of the archa

eological history and current research on native American cultures in southern Wisconsin. This society aims to provide activities for artifact collectors, amateur and professional archaeologists, and persons interested in Wisconsin's Native American History. We encourage families and youth to join in appreciating and studying these many areas of interest. Members will be offered the opportunity to become involved in field research and preservation of our cultural resources in Wisconsin and beyond.

Dolly Parton, the legendary singer, songwriter and beloved American icon, passed away today, August 25, at age 80. 🎤

We remember Parton’s remarkable 60-year career and lasting legacy. Known as the “Queen of Country,” she released 50 studio albums and became one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Her talents extended beyond music as an actress, philanthropist and businesswoman.

Parton’s impact reached far beyond the stage. Her Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, founded in honor of her father, has provided millions of free books to children around the world.

She was also a co-owner of The Dollywood Company, which operates Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, Dollywood’s Splash Country and DreamMore Resort & Spa in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Wisconsin was also part of her storied career. Parton performed in Madison and Milwaukee several times, including appearances at Madison’s Capitol Theatre in 1976, the Bradley Center in 1990, and the Alliant Energy Center and Miller High Life Theatre in 2005.

We remember Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life, career and contributions and extend our condolences to her family, friends and countless fans.
