About 10 minutes before this image was taken we were standing in thick fog wondering if we’d even get a view. We knew a storm was coming, and it seemed unlikely we’d get a sunset at all. Yet as the sun was setting the fog cleared, the mountains became visible and lightning filled the sky in the distance. What an unbelievable end to A & J’s unreal day.

Jillian and Kevin eloped on a mountainside cliff deep into fall in Northern Vermont. The day called for a wind storm, rain, and cold, and they were game for every second of it. In fact, they were hands down the two most capable and prepared hikers ready for any weather conditions with endless smiles and an abundance of joy. Their day was wild, windy, and extremely awesome.

Kiah and David eloped in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in a way that ended up being more spectacular than any of us could have imagined. I think that’s one of the most incredible things about elopements. You really never know exactly what nature is going to deliver you when you’re several months out and planning. Sometimes you get really lucky.

When Jess and Barry decided to elope in Acadia National Park in the late fall I knew that anything could happen with the weather. What we got was one of the nicest days in the whole season, which they managed to fill to the brim with joy, great views, and time with family. Their Acadia National Park wedding was one of the highlights of the season.

I am more than a year behind posting at this point, but I was just thinking back to this perfect summer day. One of my favorite parts of KC and Ryan’s day was that KC‘s dad could not hold it together and it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

Also, I don’t often post reviews on here but I should more often because reviews like the one they left for me are what keep me doing this busy season after busy season! Here is what they had to say:

“If you are debating using Swell & Stone do yourself a favor and book already! Kat was fantastic. Leading up to my wedding she frequently reached out to me and my husband to keep us on track as we were super busy, without her things would have fallen apart because we were not at all on top of it. She is very on top of everything. All the location suggestions were very well planned and thought out. She had vendor names for EVERYTHING and was able to even get me more names when I had trouble getting hair and make up for a sunrise wedding. She was professional and also really fun to have on our hike. She made the day fun and while we weren’t sure if it would be awkward to spend a few hours hiking with a photographer we’d never met she was really personable and we enjoyed having her there helping us. We are beyond grateful to Kat and you will be too! 100% recommend Swell & Stone. Our photos are beautiful and exactly what we asked for. I can’t stress enough how great the experience and final products were. Kat’s the best!”

To say that Kirsten and Kelsey’s gorgeous fall elopement in Stowe, Vermont didn’t go according to plan is an understatement, but they didn’t let anything stop them from having the time of their lives. I got a call the night before we were supposed to meet for a sunrise hike. It was Kelsey telling me she had just sprained her ankle. No worries, I assured her, there are plenty of spots around town that are short walking distance and we can pivot and still have a stunning and wonderful day. Kirsten was there to support her over the uneven terrain, and her crutches made a few appearances in the photos, but overall she was able to limp and sit and rest when needed. And at the end of the day, they were able to say their vows and they were married to one another, which is the most important part. And their day was full of the unbelievable views that only Vermont in the fall can provide.

A magical fairytale is the best way to describe A & J’s Acadia National Park elopement. They met at a strategically positioned overlook before the sun even rose for their first look. The moon was setting in the background and they were both really excited to see one another and begin their incredible elopement day. After their first look, they hiked with family and their pups to their ceremony spot and said their vows as the sun rose, filling the morning sky with soft light and muted colors. Our timing was perfect because after they finished their vows and a small celebration, hikers began arriving at this popular spot in the park. We moved a little for formal photos and some more exploration and then the marine layer fog began to roll in. It seemed that we would have three days worth of weather in 3 hours! In the afternoon they enjoyed a campfire and s’mores with family, and then we caught an epic sunset before they busted out light sabers for some fun light writing and we watched the moonrise and the stars come out. If I were to describe the feeling of the day it would be content and peaceful! These two are really some magical souls!

M & C eloped along the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire and in some little-known mountains in the region. They enjoyed a perfectly adventurous day full of both mountain and waterfall views. There were lovely moments and lots of laughs and all-around they both exuded joy the entire day. When I asked them why they chose to elope they responded the same way a lot of people respond- they love their friends and family, but don’t want to be the center of attention. They want the day to be about the two of them, but just for them, which is so valid and I know a ton of couples can relate! I’ll have to wait to post the gifs of these two at another time because there were too many photos I wanted to include here!
