4 years ago I took a leap from Corporate America.

Lily was nervous when we started. Stiff shoulders, careful smile — the kind of nervous that makes sense when you’re 15 and everyone’s watching. So we slowed down. A few minutes in, something shifted. She stopped posing and started moving. By the time the magenta dress caught the wind, she was laughing, not performing.

That’s the shift we’re actually chasing. Not the perfect first shot — the one after she forgets the camera’s there.

Jeff didn’t have to be in these photos. He chose to be.

Amanda booked her family the sunrise experience, and her husband Jeff showed up, dressed the part and was ready to get in the frame with her and their daughters. No standing off to the side, no waiting in the car. Just “all in” for his family.

That kind of support is what makes mornings like this so special.

However, the biggest compliment our team can ever receive — is when a client loves our experience so much and they feel called to join us and provide these experiences for women in their hometowns. That’s exactly what happened with Amanda. She’s now our photographer in Charlotte, North Carolina!

Alejandra and Edgar came out to shoot on the volcanic rock to celebrate 10 years together, and this one is going to stick with me for a while.

The sunrise the light that morning was something else — the tradewinds showed up right on time.

What made it more than just a photo shoot was that Alejandra and Edgar took the time to learn a bit about Hawaiian culture while we were out there. It’s one of my favorite parts of doing this in Hawaii — it’s not just a backdrop, it’s a place with its own history, and getting to share a little of that with couples during their shoot means a lot to us.

Ten years together, one sunrise, and a memory that will last a lifetime.
