I don’t even know how this happened, but today in the very first issue of HEARTFUL I was named as 1 of the top 20 family photographers “changing the game of family photography.”

Heartful is “a free digital magazine for family photographers that highlights images with soul, by photographers interested in telling honest stories that are deeper than pretty.”

It literally BLOWS MY MIND to be on this list with the other freakin’ amazing amazing AMAZING other artists, many of whom I’ve looked up to for several years. Shoutout to all of them here because you neeeeed to go see the art they’re creating:

Navigate to caitlinalohilani.com to see what’s new on the website. I’ve completely reorganized to hopefully better guide new clients in the right direction when seeking to learn more about my services. Whether it be for Wedding, Family, or Branding photography.

The perfectionist in me will never be done fiddling with it, but I’m so happy to share it with you today, and I hope you find joy in browsing the new pages and imagery too.

New motto: When in doubt, cuddle it out 🌸

I like to remind parents, especially with newborns, that as long as you look at peace, it hardly matters what expression baby is making. If we catch them at the right millisecond, all will be well and you’ll hardly be able to tell that they were screaming their little selves off a second earlier.

Baby will feed off of your energy. So take a deep breath — we’re going to make something beautiful together no matter what!

I loved how these sweet new parents laughed off the tears, and leaned into engaging with / following baby Hendrix’s lead & needs ☺️

Spring sessions are coming!! 🌼

While full hour+ sessions are my favorite way to create together, as seen in this set, I’ll be offering a small handful of minis in March & April to take advantage of what hopefully will be a very lush and abundant Spring! Think yellow mustard flowers and whispy greens 🌱 Minis wont be offered again until the Fall.

Signups and details will be announced to my email list tomorrow at 12pm. Last chance to add yourself to the list, via my website pop up or at the base of my contact form page, is today.

There will be three dates for families, couples, and individuals. And two dates for just mothers & their children (all ages goes here!)

Feel so proud about this one, and couldn’t have worked with a lovelier group of people. Taking the time to get creative just for the sake of it is never a waste of time!

“This editorial at the breathtaking Catalina View Gardens in Palos Verdes, California was inspired by organic textures, spring pastels, and the contrast of stone elements with delicate, pressed flowers. Emphasis in design was placed on a clean and fresh aesthetic, perfect for the modern bride seeking to host a unique and intimate outdoor celebration with her closest loved ones. Catalina View Gardens, with its ocean and vineyard views, abundant bougainvillea, vines, and arched pathways, lent to the sense of a dreamy, destination wedding, reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast.”

Before 2, become 3 👼🏻 There’s beauty in all of the seasons.

I shot hybrid for this session, meaning on both film and digital mediums. I’m now offering film as an add on option for all lifestyle sessions. Tritia was patient enough to wait for me to get our lovely film scans back from , so that I could match them to our digitals, for optimal film-like aesthetic. Two of these were shot on — any guesses?

Are you starting to feel the stress of the holidays quickly approaching, and the pressure to find everyone in your life the perfect gift?! I know I am!

Perhaps instead of thinking about “where” you want to shop this year, why not think about “whom” you wish to support? Wouldn’t it be cool to support a face you recognize, that isn’t Jeff Bezos? 🤪

I hope these 7 ideas are helpful in considering ways you can support your local photographers, other artists, and small businesses in general, all year long! Even if you can’t support with your wallet, you can still support with your voice.
