When I approach a wedding weekend, I am always looking to create a balanced gallery.

I create and curate to have just enough classic photographs to age beautifully and honor the day, just enough editorial moments to highlight all the beauty and fashion and give it a little edge, and enough imperfect and documentary style photos to let the real emotion and energy of the day shine through. This wedding had it all and was an absolute joy to photograph. Of course the ratios of each are adjusted to each couple, but this is what I always aim for.

I want my couples to have it all so I really push myself to create in all the styles.

All analog film (except there is one rouge digital photo in here, can you guess which one?) 🧚

Beautiful day celebrating L & L at a party I’ll never forget in the middle of the Pacific. Thank you for having me.

Rule number one: always say yes to Venice

The biggest shift in my work came from how I prepare and how I approach the day.

I started shooting a lot more analog film.
Not just for the look (though the tones are always 15/10) but for the intention. It slows me down. It makes me choose and frame more carefully. And they’re always my favorite images.

I started preparing a lot more.
Moodboards for different parts of the day, thinking through the light, the movement, and feeling ahead of time, unique to each couple and event. Wedding days move fast and I don’t always have the luxury to create an art direction on the spot, so I come in ready with a very clear vision. And trust myself to move things around an execute on that vision.

And then I am fully ok to let go of it.

Because sometimes what I dreamed up isn’t actually there. The energy, the light, the emotion is different. And the best thing I can do for a follow and lean in to that.

More than anything, I observe.
Not directing constantly. Not moving people from pose to pose. I’m watching, anticipating, and placing myself where something is about to happen before it does.

How they stand together

Who is leaning in

The quiet interactions

That’s where the real images are.

Phots aren’t meant to just be beautiful. They’re meant to bring you back.

Another year around the sun

Just feeling really grateful

For my kids, my family, this life, the art I get to create, and the amazing people and places it’s brought into my life. I’ve met some of my favorite people (couples and wedding vendors turned forever friends!) and incredibly grateful.

It’s full and busy in the best way.
