One of the first things we do when planning an elopement is throw out the standard wedding timeline and start from scratch.

What do you actually want to do that day? Where do you want to be when you say your vows? Is there something on the island you’ve always wanted to experience?

That’s where we start. Pit stops, detours, spontaneous decisions, all of it is on the table. The best elopement days rarely go exactly as planned, and that’s usually the point. 🤙

The number one thing holding couples back from the elopement they actually want is the fear of disappointing people.

And look, that fear is valid. Some family members will have feelings about it. A few friends might be surprised. But here’s what we’ve seen over and over: the people who love you come around. Especially when they see how happy you are. 🤍

Nobody looks back on their wedding day wishing they had stressed more about other people’s expectations. Plan the day that’s right for you two first.

What if you wrote your vows the day of?

No rehearsed speech, no memorizing lines the night before. These two sat down right before the ceremony and wrote exactly what they wanted to say in that moment. And honestly, it showed.

Elopements have a way of stripping away the pressure that comes with traditional weddings. When it’s just the two of you, there’s no audience to perform for. You can say the weird, specific, true things that actually matter.

If you’ve been stressing about vows, writing them on the day is genuinely one of our favorite approaches. No polish needed. Just whatever’s actually on your mind when you’re standing in the middle of somewhere beautiful about to commit to each other for good.

I know so many people dream of getting elopeed in Hawaii but they assume it’s going to be complicated with paperwork, rules, and planning from far away.

It’s actually WAY easier than most people think.

Here’s the simple breakdown of how our process works:

1. You don’t need a witness! (I get this question A LOT!)
2. You fill out a quick marriage license application online
3. You meet with a marriage agent near where you’re staying to pick up the license (it takes minutes)
4. You book an officiant who can legally marry you in Hawaii (I have a list of amazing ones)
5. You get married in one of the most beautiful places on planet earth and take photos like THIS!

That’s it.

Then we get to the fun part, picking the island, choosing the locations, deciding on sunrise vs sunset, and building a timeline that feels easy and stress-free.

If getting married in Hawaii has been on your heart, this is your sign to start making it real!

I love looking back at past elopements that I’ve captured and reliving the day. This was such a beautiful one!

The dark moody clouds rolling through the mountains made everything feel so dramatic. We explored cliffs, took in those big mountain views, and just let the island do its thing.

And then during the ceremony…we got a sea turtle!

Moments like that remind me why Hawaii elopements are so special. You can’t plan everything, and honestly you don’t need to. The day just unfolds, and you end up with a story you’ll remember forever.

If you’re dreaming about an elopement with moody mountain vibes, epic cliffs, and all the little surprises Hawaii loves to bring, check out our Hawaii elopement packages on our website. Or DM me and I’ll send you the info!

Quick question, would you rather have moody clouds or a bright blue sky on your elopement day?!

I LOVE when couples do this.

Because hiking up a mountain in Hawaii in high heels isn’t something I’d normally suggest. And if you’re choosing a Hawaii elopement, you’re probably not doing it because you want to play it safe or stay perfectly clean!

This is what an adventure elopement can look like:

You hike up in your hiking clothes.
I take you to the best views.
You change into your wedding clothes.
You can still do “first look” shots.
And then if you want, you kick the shoes off because barefoot just makes sense.

And yes, the dress might get dirty. But honestly, that’s part of the fun. The dirt on your clothes is proof you actually did the adventure, not just posed for it.

If you want a wedding day that feels fun and adventurous, this is your kind of elopement.

Let me know, would you go barefoot on your wedding day or are you keeping the shoes on?!

These canyon views were unreal!

One of my favorite parts of being a Hawaii elopement photographer is getting to be a fly on the wall. I don’t want your day to feel like a photoshoot the whole time. I want it to feel like an adventure you’re actually living.

So a lot of the time, I let you two explore.

You walk ahead and take it all in.
You stop when something catches your eye.
You laugh, you talk, you soak it in.
And I capture it as it happens, like I’m not even there.

That’s how you get photos that feel real. Not posed.

And when you add in a canyon AND a waterfall in the same day?! It’s hard to beat that.

If you want an elopement day that feels relaxed, adventurous, and full of those natural in-between moments, check out our Hawaii elopement packages on our website. Or DM me and I’ll send you the info!

Yes, you can absolutely include your immediate family on your elopement day!

It keeps the day intimate, but you still get to celebrate with the people who matter most.

And this one had such a unique touch when the bride had her brother officiate the ceremony!! It was so meaningful AND so personal.

Another thing couples don’t realize is how simple a beach ceremony in Hawaii can be.

The permit only costs $20.
That’s it!

So you can have the ceremony on the beach with your family, keep it low stress, and still make it official in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Then after the ceremony, you get the best of both worlds.

Family went to brunch and celebrated together.
And I took the newly weds on an adventure session after for epic photos and some alone time.

It’s such a perfect way to include family, then still get that full Hawaii elopement adventure.

Would you want to invite just immediate family, or keep it just the two of you?

I love when brides surprise me like this!

You don’t have to follow the “rules.”
You don’t have to wear white.
You don’t have to do what everyone expects.
You get to choose exactly what feels like YOU.

And when a bride goes all in like this, I’m always so stoked. A bold dress with the epic cliffs and mountain views, and a day that feels totally different than a traditional wedding.

That’s the whole point.

Eloping in Hawaii is for couples who want the off the beaten path experience. Couples who want something real, adventurous, and meaningful. Couples who want a wedding day that feels like their story, not a copy of someone else’s.

If you’ve been thinking about doing something different, consider this your reminder that you can.
