Aloha Zoe Photography Aloha Zoe Photography is a Hawaii elopement photography team specializing in intimate weddings and adventure elopements across the Hawaiian Islands.

I expected the prom sway. They gave me an amazing Texas two-step on the cliffs in Hawaii!

These two had been taking dance lessons together for date nights, and they spent 30 minutes dancing on this cliff during their Kauai elopement. Spinning, laughing, and having the absolute best time together. I was so stoked just getting to photograph it.

A lot of my couples include a first dance, and it’s one of my favorite moments of the day. Somewhere in the middle of it, they forget there’s even a camera. Most couples get completely lost in each other, and I get to capture that connection.

If you’re planning on eloping in Hawaii, leave some room in your day for having a first dance. Pick a song you love and get lost in each other. I promise you won’t regret it!

Maybe it needs a sunrise above the clouds, a quiet beach, a massive mountain backdrop, or somewhere that makes you stop and think, how is this real?

After photographing 300+ elopements across Hawaii, this is still one of my favorite things about eloping… You get to choose a place that actually feels like you!

No ballroom required. Just you two or with a select few people that you love. And one insanely beautiful place to get married.

300+ elopements. 8 years. And somehow I still can’t believe this is my job.

I’ve gotten to photograph couples on mountaintops, in the ocean, under waterfalls, along cliffs, through pouring rain, and in some of the most unreal places Hawaii has to offer.

Being a Hawaii elopement photographer has been an absolute blast, but more than anything, it’s been an honor getting to document so many couples choosing to do their wedding day their own way.

Whether it’s a two-person Hawaii elopement or an intimate Hawaii wedding with your closest people, I’ll never get tired of chasing beautiful light, exploring wild places, and creating photos that actually feel like you.

Eight years in, and I’m still just as stoked to pick up my camera and do this! 🙌🏼

Should you wear a veil on your wedding day? Honestly, it’s completely up to you. But if you’re asking me as your photographer, I love a veil.

The way it catches the wind, the way the light shines through it, the way it moves around you in a photo. It adds something a little more dramatic and stunning in the photos.

And you don’t have to wear it all day. Some brides put it on just for the ceremony, some bring it out for sunset photos, and some never take it off. Choose whatever feels like you.

Are elopements always like this?

Honestly, not very often. But anything is possible on a mountain hike in Hawaii! This was probably the most muddy that I’ve ever seen the trail and my couple decided to fully embrace it anyway! They were loving the romantic muddy dress photos in the moody weather. Plus, the mud on the dress adds some character, right!?

You’re tossing around the idea of eloping in Hawaii, but you have no idea where to start. First, come the questions that start racing through your mind.

Which island?
Where do we stay?
Sunrise or sunset?
How do we find somewhere that doesn’t feel crowded?
And what do we actually do for the rest of the day?!

Here’s the thing: you don’t need to have all of those answers before reaching out to a photographer.

We’ve photographed over 300 elopements throughout the Hawaiian islands, and one of our favorite parts of this job is helping our couples create a day that feels less like a photoshoot and more like an actual experience together.

Maybe that’s exchanging vows at sunrise and exploring jungles, cliffs, and mountain trails afterword.

Maybe it’s getting ready slowly, hiking somewhere beautiful, popping ch*****ne and ending the night jumping in the water.

There isn’t one “right” way to elope.

There just needs to be a day that feels like you two.

Your wedding shoes don’t have to look “bridal.”

If your wedding day involves nature trails, cliffs, canyons, or mountains, choose shoes you can comfortably walk in with enough traction for uneven ground.

The good news? Your dress will cover them in most of your photos anyway!

I’ve had brides wear simple flats, hiking boots, chacos, sneakers, custom Converse with their wedding date, and just about everything in between. Pick something that feels like you and allows you to enjoy the adventure without worrying about every step.

If you like the look of a certain type of shoe, you can wear something comfortable on the trail and change once we get to the spot! Totally up to you! :)
