Yokosuka, thank you for keeping me so busy via word-of-mouth these last two years that I’ve barely had to post here. I’ll be sharing a lot more of my fave shots from my time here as I get ready to establish myself in a new market next spring. (Including this recent shot of gorgeous for .) These two killed it at their session! To get this shot, I asked Hector and Kayla (in heels! pregnant!) to stand perfectly still on the rocks for a long exposure.

When you leave your shutter open for a long time, anything moving (like water 👍🏻) blurs, but also, anything moving (like people 👎🏻) blurs, so it’s not an easy shot to capture as a portrait. You usually see the effect more in landscape photography, but I think it’s totally worth it for portraiture.

(But I’m not the one who was frozen on a rock so maybe ask them what they think.)

These big sisters were so helpful with their new little brother the whole time I was at their house (which was a long time — newborns work on their own schedules!). I love watching kids step into their new roles and fall in love with their new little siblings. 🥰
