Just your family. Hawaii. And the time you need to enjoy your loved ones on the beach.

Mini photo sessions have their place as well- They’re perfect if you’re wanting something quick and convenient in Waikiki or Koolina near your hotel, but if you’re looking for more variety of images, at a more secluded beach, you are going to want to book a full session (middle or large package) If you’re looking for a wider selection of locations that will be easier to access with kids, I recommend staying in Honolulu at the start of your trip.

If you’re still planning your trip to Oahu here’s a few TIPS to help you plan a photo session like this!

• Book accommodations for the first half of your trip somewhere in Honolulu so that you have access to more secluded beach locations at sunrise without catching traffic — the best time for photos for clients on vacation is SUNRISE trust me, Jet lag will work in your favor during those first few days and you’ll have a beautiful sunrise with LESS people on the beach for your photo session!

• If you’re looking for ideas on where to stay for a relaxing and luxurious babymoon getaway here are my top picks…

2. If you’re looking to explore different parts of the island, at the north shore &/OR in Koolina are the next 2 top picks if you’re looking to split your stay which I highly recommend!

Planning a family vacation to Oʻahu? 🌴

One thing that surprises many families visiting Hawaiʻi is how early everyone wakes up the first few days because of the time difference - Hawaii is 2-3+ hrs BEHIND the rest of the US.

And honestly? It can be a gift.

Early mornings on Oʻahu are less crowded, peaceful, and one of the most beautiful times of day on the island.

Some favorite ways families enjoy those early mornings:

• watching the sunrise in Kailua
• a quiet beach walk along Waikiki before it gets busy (not too long after the sun is up)
• exploring the tide pools at Ko Olina - possibly even at your photo session with your favorite Oahu family photographer!
• grabbing malasadas at Leonard’s Bakery in Honolulu before the lines get long - they’re open at 530AM!
• visiting Byodo-In Temple in Kaneohe right when it opens at 830am

As a Hawaii family photographer, this is my favorite time of day to capture photos for visiting families — the beaches are calm and that jet lag is working to your advantage especially at the start of your trip!
