From what I've heard, this will be the last airshow that Cold Lake will be hosting for a long time. With Canada's new jet fighter the F-35, said to be coming to Cold Lake sometime soon, it only makes sense that the base will be tightening up its security measures with such a technology advanced and confidential fighter coming to the base. It's unfortunate that smoke from the recent wildfires that have been spreading across Alberta and B.C caused the Saturday show to cease, and apart of Sunday's show. Although not being able to see what you paid for can be frustrating, everyone kept a positive outlook and decided to make the most out of it. The sense of community and shared enthusiasm for aviation despite the challenges really made this airshow a memorable one. If anything I learned that as an aviation photographer, it's not just about taking pictures, it's about putting down the camera and appreciating the art that is aviation.

Anyways, here are some snaps from the arrivals before the smoke hit, one from the static display, a few from the departures. Hopefully I'll make it around to editing some pictures from Sunday's show sometime soon. ✌️
